Homemade Drill Press Milling Machine

On the dirty.  Spend a few more lazy bucks and you can easily buy everything to do this aside from the bit at HF.

Post weld face your own shit.   Add bells, whistles, lasers at your own discretion.

Be careful, the taper that interfaces the chuck to the spindle (will be either Jacobs or Morse) is not meant for any radial load, so the chuck might drop out while doing this, which can cause you some injury or grief.

If you are going to dedicate a drill press to this weld the chuck to the spindle so it can't drop out.

I got a drill press at goodwill for $20 and had to weld the chuck on as it always fell off.

Not my press.

That was a big issue i thought about but didn't dig into much. I figured it would be ok but good save on potential emergency room visit.

Could just bring the whole head of the press to the machine shop with a used mill chuck off ebay or craigs and have them fit an angular contact bearing at the base of the spinning stuffs to take both radial and vertical load?  Something like that....

Said vise stuff.  The motor itself provides enough power to mill with and using a 12v washer pump and some tubing for cutting oil would be sweet too.
