Oem Honda crx fuel pump failure sunday fun
« on: August 20, 2012, 02:03:12 PM »

These cars are getting freakin old, fuel pump took a dump on me in my 90 crx si. Replaced the main relay even though it showed it worked just cause its 22 years old and I dont like breaking down. The board looked so weathered I didnt want to bother with resoldering the joints

Jumped the wires needed and test for voltage at the 5 pin connector at the pump. Got 12 volts at the harness after unclipping the harness at the fuel pump with ignition on

I cant believe an oem honda fuel pump failed then again these cars are getting freakin old. That was my sunday. Now the joy of dropping the tank, hooray

Not sure why everyone cries about dropping a crx tank.. Even an OG.. :P

I always dropped both hanger bolts and pulled down what I needed and swapped what had to be done.. Can do a fuel pump in 20 mins...

I *heard* a walbro 400 in a civic the other day, it's quieter than my walbro 190. Unreal.

Also not much bigger, the base is bigger the body is the same. Btw a stock crx fuel pump is bigger then the 400!

I just got an OEM R35 fuel pump pair on fleabay for $27. Found an older "record" on the stock R35 fuel system to be 645awhp at 21psi, and AMS says 670awhp max.

I've been wanting to try a DIY dual pump setup for a while...

They're a bit better flow than a dohc vtec pump, less than a 190lph. Obviously designed for decent pressure though.

I was going to braze together a "y" to the stock outlet tube on the stock pump hanger so there wasn't a problem with the hoses. Then I was thinking about cutting the arm off and making it a bolt-on like the full-blown kit - except with steel. I orginally had this idea with 2 GSR pumps before the 400lph pump was available, since the main goal was silence on a DD.

I might just use these for future not-big turbo cars, since they're new and can do 300whp each. The Walbro 400 I saw was as quiet as a stocker, so I'd go with that if I ever need over 400hp.

ordered my 255 from lightning motorsports the other day. Some kid is going to be very lucky since the crx is going up for sale once I install the pump. Car is dialed in for sure. Last of my hondas.

YEap the only complaint I have is when using a stock FPR the pump go past 200psi on my gauge flood the engine.

So I had to use a CDM FPR to fix that.  :noel:
