those a euclids.   they have v8 detroit deisels  supercharged

any supercharged diesel detroit is also a 2 stoke. the superchager is needed and will not run without one.
BTW, the blower they use is not to create boost, its to move air into the cylinders.  The designation 8-71 means in one revolution the blower can fill 8 x 71cid cylinders with air at atmospheric pressure, 12-71=12 x 71cid cylinders, etc.  The turbo was added to these to improve power and response.

usually those things are diesel electric. my father worked on a couple of those in his past along with diesel electric locomotives.


The only electric part is the brakes to dissapate heat.  The motors aren't series DC motors like locomotivies. 

dont they have an electrical generator ( diesel ) that powers a gearbox coupled to an electric motor?

Most do. its WAY more efficient.
