Dr. Paul is right.

It seems every piss poor parent comes to the conclusion that their kid "must have ADD" and they get some pills for them just to cover up the fact that they're a horrible parent.

The last thing we need is the government trying to drug the remaining kid's whose parents don't want them on drugs.

actually, to be real honest...my ole lady used to work with add kids. 90% of them played it off, just so they could get by easier in school. really pretty pathetic. When she called out the principal, they just said...you cant argue it. its just one of those things you dont do.

My mom wouldn't let them medicate my ADD when I was a kid.  As an adult, I have very limited uses for ADD medications... I definitely have ADD as they do not act like amphetamines in my system, but they shut off a part of my mind in order to help me focus.

Not really.  It has a definite stimulant effect.  Dexedrine, however, I take 5-15 mg of and have to stay on my feet for the first two hours or else I fall asleep.

I'd love time release stuff to offset the initial "high" that knocks me out, but $110/month vs $11/month, uhm, no contest.  Not guaranteeing I'd take it regularly, either, it's awful hard on my kidneys.

my mother was the complete opposite, and i was basically forced to eat those damned brown and clear gelcaps with the orange and white little granules inside. shit turned me into a fucking zombie, i didn't want to eat, didn't want to talk, spent a lot of time in my room alone. this went on for 3-4 years, as she bought into everything the doctor said.

i basically ate pharmacy grade dextrometh for the bulk of my high school years. fuck that shit. my child will never go through that.

i sold all my medication never took one pill and my parents knew lol
now i sell half of what docs scribe the rest i use for lullz, pain pills esp... but I dont really fuck with that shit, I never take add pills or anything because i like myself too much and i prefer to be all over the place

I'm not a zombie on it and I still have an appetite.  I started gaining weight when I took it, in fact.  It does tend to make me get even more sucked into things, however.  Forums when I should be working (normally I fuck off 10-15 minutes out of the hour when I don't have anything that has a timeframe, on meds if I get on one say bye bye to two hours or more) or, and this bothers me, I can pay attnetion to TV.  Which I don't like at all.

I had very bad ADD as a kid, still do to this day. I was forced to take some shit medication and one day i realized that i was better off on days when i forgot to take it then when i was on that shit. Now, when i need to concentrate on something extra hard like exams, i find that drink a little bit of alcohol helps me calm down and i can concentrate better and be less easily distracted.
