Where do you order your tuning supplies?
« on: June 08, 2013, 02:43:48 PM »

$9 per ZIF socket is not cool.

I tend to order about 20 chips at a time.

Where do you guys order your stuff from?

I bought some SST512 chips from Egay a while back, they're junk and don't work properly. Can't erase them after they've been burned the first time, and if you try it just fucks them up and they're garbage.

I get my chips from Moates or Xenocron (4.50 each/3.50 each at 10), everything else is Digikey. I bought a few hundred sockets off Ebay, non ZIF style, for next to nothing. I probably have 100 or so left and it's been years. FWIW, I like them a lot better, if you're using any sort of real time programming you really don't need to spend the money on a ZIF socket as you're not going to be removing and reinstalling a chip that much.

$10.50 for a freaking zif socket? No.

I don't like ordering chips off of eBay. One never knows WTF is going to arrive. I've had some good and some bad.

These aren't for me, they are for idiot customers that like to try different chips, which is stupid I know, but whatever.

I guess I'll just keep ordering from Xeno then. Meh.

I buy all my sockets and resistors and caps locally at a electronics surplus store in town and I get the latches and the 27sf512s off ebay. I havent had to many problems with them. I buy like 50 at a time for like 60 or 70$. I believe the local shop sells zifs for like 3$ a piece also.

I have gone through one eBay supplier for 27SF512s for a couple years now.  $1.50-2.00/chip after shipping, with one bad chip per 100.

$1 per Assman machine pin sockets.  Fuck a ZIF, they are junk.

Thanks.

I honestly get overwhelmed at Digikey and Mouser.
