flux core not feeding steady
« on: September 10, 2013, 03:50:41 PM »

I have a campbell hausfeld 110v fluxcore welder that is having some issues. When I go to weld with it the wire does not feed at a steady rate, it pulses. This makes making good welds with t even harder then it normally is. Any ideas what cause this? The wire seems to feed fine when not welding but as soon as you strike an arc the feed pulses. I am using lincolin .035 wire.

Throw it away. How do you even weld anything with 110 without staying in the same spot for 2 minutes?

Try a new tip, after time they get worn from the wire rubbing it and the wire could be bouncing around and not making a steady contact.

If you don't hear the motor at all, it's a dirty trigger contact. If you hear the motor, it's probably the roller slipping. Once it slips, you need to pull that entire length out past where it slipped. The roller will have flattened that spot a bit, and sometimes will catch in the tip. If it's old, you may also have to replace the wire liner inside the cable.
