Been looking to buy a truck to carry my stuff and tow the crx to the track. Even shit trucks are going for way to much $$$$ in the tri states. While looking I keep finding diesel vans CHEAP with low miles.

Got a idea of shopping off the most of the back out and turning a van into a ramp truck, and putting air begs in the back to make getting cars on and off easy. Anyone seen this or done it?

Also, that sounds like a LOT of work, albeit mostly straightforward work.  Your time might be better spent making money to buy something.  Not the fun answer, but there it is.  You need to price the metal beforehand as stuff isn't given away free like it was a decade ago.

I'd look for a clean ramp truck with blown motor from a rust free Southern state, and pay the $500-600 transport to get it to you.  Buy diesel van, swap diesel engine/trans and have driveshaft cut.  It would be less work, result in a nicer truck, and have resale value.

The only downside I see to your final outcome is that it's a very specialized vehicle. It won't be worth much when you need to haul furniture and such. I considered the same thing you are. I settled on a 90 silverado long bed for $300 with a rod knock, then traded $600 car repair labor for a sweet dual axle car trailer. I can do almost anything with that combo.

I sort of agree with JD that it's a good bit of work plus metal is retardedly expensive right now. The only thing is it might be fun to build and you could make it exactly what you want rather than buying something then compromising on how it works for your needs.

I'm with these douchenozzles, except if you have lots of stuff consider an enclosed trailer or an SUV with single car hauler. Having a place to keep your shit at the track is priceless.

I pulled a 28ft (31 overall) travel trailer threw vancouver with the crew short 09, 7" on 37's. Not sure if it was the size of the unit, the black smoke or my driving style but people got the fuck out of the way lol. I was suprized, the detour operation was rough though.
