TPRC v2.0
« on: February 28, 2014, 10:28:55 PM »

Since I'm whoring this out all over the rest of the internet, I figured I should share with my true home as well.

Behold TPRC v2.0!

It's a 93 Del Sol, K20 swap, 06 CRV trans with RSX Type S gear swap, 01 CRV rear diff, drive shafts and axles.

We are using the CRV rear hubs mated to DC2 ITR trailing arms and converting the front hubs to DC2 ITR to match the bolt pattern as well as gain some better brakes.

As you can see by the pics, it's a race car meaning we didn't worry about retaining the stock tank but you probably could if you wanted to cut and weld a stock tank.

I'll post updates as we go, you can also follow the project on Facebook if you want at https://www.facebook.com/SyndicatedPerformance

Oh it's getting a piston/rod bottom end and a GT35 before it leaves as well. I don't know if it'll do dirty 3rds with the AWD but I'll post some sweet donut videos and shit.

The floor plates? Drivers side is to keep your feet from getting hot, pass side is to give the co-pilot/navigator something to rest their feet on.

Did you have to chop out much to fit the CRV trans?

Looks really... nice.  Lol.  Keep up the great work!

Didn't have to cut anything to fit the trans, running an exhaust under the car is a pain in the dick though.

Car is done, makes 425whp on pump gas, has already fragged the prop shaft twice. The first was an OE high miles one that was kinda slopped out to begin with, the second was "rebuilt" by a guy who obviously had no idea what he's doing.

It's....nice-ish? This was a project built by the fab shop next to me basically taking my instructions on what would work and going with it, sadly their business management skills (or lack thereof) basically ruined the relationshio between us so I doubt I will see the car again as I've refused to touch it until I'm paid for the work I've done. It could've been really awesome, but there's a million things on the car I'm not happy with and even though I built the motor and trans, and tuned it, I'd rather not have my name associated with it   :-\

Ah that sucks what a queer ending to a super gay story.  :D

The trans though, how was the gearing?  No problems with the rear end?  IDK why but I wana tackle a mid engine or AWD civic soon

CRV has pretty good ratios, the final drive is nice a short. Worst case, buy a CRV box and jam RSX Type-S gears into it, the gear stacks are identical. I chucked an RSX 6th gear into the 5 speed box just to get the RPM's down on the transit stages of the rally this car was supposed to run in.

Rear end is ok, I would've much rather used the Wagovan rear and driveshaft as there are many more people using that and I think out of the box, the RT4WD is a lot better.

We/I was supposed to pull the CRV diff apart and shim the clutches so it would lock up a lot faster. There's also a valve in the diff that will open if the RT4WD viscous clutch gets too hot that I wanted to replace with a solenoid attached to the cutting brake.

Someone on H-T was doing a lot with the CRV diff, and I recall shims & added pressure is all it needs. IIRC he shimmed it, sealed the relief valve, and used a seperate diff pump to create pressure & cool the fluid.

The front has to spin a bit before the rear diff engages. The heat is just from the slipping, which is from intentionally not being shimmed tight. The way that diff works is when the front wheels slip, and therefor turn faster than the rear wheels, the pump starts moving and adds pressure to the clutch discs. When the front wheels spin the same speed, the pump doesn't spin/create pressure. It almost can't function when the rear gets grip, that's why the RT4WD diff is better for getting the AWD effect. That system used the viscous coupler to have it always engaged to some degree.
