So, sometime this week our shower drain pipe started leaking.  The leak became worse each time we used the shower (according the the owner below us).  The shower is used twice a day... so that's at least 8-10 uses since the damage was noticed?  WTF... she could have said something earlier.  We have stopped using the shower to prevent further damage.

I'm an insurance agent, but a completely different line of business.  I don't deal with homeowner's BS.  We have a condo owners policy (HO-6 for you insurance types), but until I read the scope of my policy I don't know if the damage will be covered.  I already talked to the Homeowner's Assoc. president and he said the scope of their policy does not cover water damage between units... so... great.

I'm drinking immediately.

Yeah, you guys are right.  I know people that put up drywall for a living, plus I used to paint in the summers... hopefully the plumbing damage is an easy fix.

Unless I take out my shower stall, the repairs have to be done through the downstairs unit (tear out bad drywall, repair plumbing, replace drywall, texture, paint).

Point out the neighbor's negligence in notifying you promptly of the damages if she becomes a bitch and wants some stupid payout.

If the thing has to be fixed on your bill anyway, you should be able to bring in your own labor, or even fix it yourself.

It's not your fault that the plumbing was fucked and caused damage to another unit.

Tell the owners of the place to cover it, you should not be held liable for it.

Read again, he owns the place.  "Condo" is a fancy term for owning your apartment.

Yeah, but with the added benefit of paying $277/mo for Homeowner's Association dues... yes, we're planning on moving soon.

Everyone with a condo, or a neighborhood where you pay dues, plans on moving.  It makes me wonder why people move into those places to begin with.  No offense dude.

You married a girl with a job, decent income, and credit?  Plus she's attractive enough you want to have sex with her for years to come?  Well, I'm sure you can put up with her other flaws.   :noel:

Most smaller leaks will dry up and leave a water stain which needs to be spray primed and painted. Easy fix if that's the extent, but we don't know what the damage looks like, and you should have pictures for your own good by this point.

The only time to replace drywall is if it's been wet so many times that even after it dries it's soft.

im sure weed deliveries aren't gonna fix a leaking water pipe that causes damage.

Unfortunately u may be responsible to fixing the damage, whether ur gonna fix it under ur own labor or pay someone else.

Try to convince the affected neighbor to remodel, and pay you extra to put nice stuff in.  Or you can bust out their windows and even up the score.  Ur not responsible for their broken window ;)

I hate fixing drywall, it ain't hard, just a lil messy, and a pain in the ass.

Make sure u get the same thickness of drywall if ur gonna replace it.

Yeah....This is why condos are dumb.

Good luck to you on the fix and the subsequent move.
