wonder if it's set up as a compound turbo...  i do want one though...

looks like both compressors feed the same outlet scroll.

Ford finally gets a decent IH motor and then they decide to build their own. I wonder how many components require the cab off.

i just don't get ford, looking at the cummins then the ford. i don't even want to know the replacment cost on the turbo, or how damn complicated it looks. the cummins is super simple.

I understand that emissions has got very strict or something. but shit that looks over the top.

obviously to the exhaust manifold..just wondering about the upper and lower outlets on the turbo and how you'd plumb the piping.

I'd be interested in playing with one of those turbos. I bet they are an arm leg and firstborn though.

I didn't realize the powerjoke turbo wasn't separate compounds instead of on the same shaft. Same setup as one of the old jet engines I got to take apart in school.  Had back to back compressor wheels, but they weren't piped in compound configuration.

I saw a Dodge with a sticker once, "I'd rather be CUMMING than STROKING".


That looks rediculous. The only reason I could imagine that setup is to use a higher shaft speed for the same CFM's. That means they're probably using it as an aide to VGT, for boost control. Feed the same low amount of gasses to a high-rpm compressor, and it flows less air. Maybe that helps reduce egt's.

But hell if I know. Modern cars are becoming more complex and less reliable. All for an extra fucking mile per gallon. How many gallons does it take to tow a big truck 100 miles? O0

Am I seeing the turbo right, dual inlets?  one on the normal orientation, the other from the shaft side?

interesting none the less.  Actually Ford has been doing quite a bit right lately.  Hopefully this has been in development for some time and not a drawing board disaster

two compressor housings with a shared backing plate its a very nifty invention just wait for it to go out of balance and grenade after 5000 miles.

Better buy up the extended warranty!

looks like you might be able to put a lot of boost through it and have little to no thrust loads.  at least on the compressor end of things.
