odd ostrich problem
« on: January 31, 2010, 03:01:46 AM »

just trying to see if anyone else has run into this issue before.  I sent in my ostrich to craig to get bench tested and everything was fine.  He said he has no idea what the underlying problem could be but here is the deal.

I can burn the calibration on the chip and put it into the ecu, engine runs perfect with no check engine lights.  If i hook up the ostrich, i get a solid check engine light and it doesnt even do the CEL blinks to let me know its communicating with ectune.  Now tonight i went over to a customers house to use his car as a tester and the ostrich worked perfect as it should.

the ecu is a p06 that i converted to vtec but i figure if there was a problem with the ecu, something would happen with the chip in there and not just the ostrich.  The one thing craig mentioned was that the car could be having some crazy electrical interference keeping the ostrich from communicating but i find that hard to believe.  The car was bought from an impound lot for 200 dollars so you can imagine the shape it is in.  Not only that but the engine sat in storage for 4 years.  I bought another ecu to chip and put on his car to see if that fixes the problem but i have no other answers to why this is happening.

anyone?

V1, most updated firmware.  I dont see that as being the problem when it works fine on a previous car i tuned.

Like your going to do, I would swap out the ECU and see if that makes a difference. If it does not its obviously in the wiring. Are you using a conversion harness?

Retarded questions first, cable facing the right way? Baud rate and all the ports settings correct? IRQ conflicts?
