arent most dog attacks done by golden retrievers and then followed by german shepherds?
Depends who you ask, really.  The most often quoted bit of "statistics" comes from the CDC and/or Merritt Clifton, but both reports are based on limited data from inaccurate sources like media.  CDC even stated in their study that the statistics don't mean much of shit because it doesn't take into count the population of each breed and the sources of the information aren't dog experts thus are more likely to give incorrect data.
http://www.atts.org has some interesting statistics on different breeds.  It's basically a few tests meant to test the "stability" of different dogs in different situations.  AmStaff/APBTs have one of the highest scores.
