rHMT Resident Locksmith (Apex?)
« on: November 13, 2011, 01:05:05 PM »

Vehicle: 07.5 dodge ram 2500 Cummins
Situation: I have two key fobs, The kind with lock, unlock and panic,One randomly stopped working, the only thing that it will do now is when i press Panic it will flash the hazards twice, but no horn or anything.
Second one died yesterday, same exact thing, lock and unlock dont work, but when i press panic hazards flash twice. Both have new batteries, anyone have any tricks i can attempt before i have to pay out of my ass for two new FOB's?

The microswitches inside might be going.  The keyfob for my remote starter did that.  Brand new battery, but the two buttons would not want to click all the time.

shit, i just noticed this now.

a lot of times, especially with the remote head keys, remotes go bad.  do you have seperate remotes or is it the remo/blade all in 1 shabang?  The microswitches go bad in them all of the time.  85% of the time, the solder needs to be re flowed on them.

This one on the top, without the bottom remote start button (wish i had that). Like i said, its still communicating with the truck, i press the Panic button and i get two flashes on the hazards, but no horn like usual. Lock and unlock won't work. Second key this month that this has happened to. If i take the bored out, can i just reheat the solder on it possibly? These keys are fucking expensive.

there is also a problem with the Chrysler CAN systems that lose the key/remote buttons from time to time.  I would have someone re learn them for you.  maybe a local locksmith.  STEALERSHITS are expensive.  Ive had to re learn them before.

Well i know the recievers on the 09-10 Rams were natorious for that, in fact, ram released a new update for them to flash it and fix it. Nothing has been said about the 07.5's, though.
