1962 Ford F100, Twin turbo, 600+whp with Dyno video
« on: February 13, 2013, 09:05:32 AM »

It has been a long time since I have been on here. We have been really busy with work and I tought I would share the latest results of our efforts with our shop truck.

It started out with just and engine refresh and has spiraled into a forged engine with ported heads, throttle body fuel injection, an E4OD trans, E85, single ebay turbo, then Borg s366, now twin Holset HE351CWs accompanied by a bucket of Turbosmart goodies. It was making 435 whp with the s366 at about 12psi.

Video with some nice BOV action

And here it is making 606WHP and 750WTQ on our DynoDynamics Dyno. Original 292 Y-block, stock steel crank stroked .200", bored .080", Probe forged pistons, Scat forged H-beam rods, ARP head studs, John Mummert ported steel heads and intake manifold, Fast EFI Throttle body with Holley commander EFI  controller, 2150cc injectors(4), Aeromotive A1000 fuel pump, Isky custom turbo cam, MSD 6AL box and blaster coil, two(2) Holset HE351CW turbos, (2)Turbosmart 40mm wastegates and 50mm Raceport BOV, 1000hp intercooler, custom piping, custom tubular exhaust manifolds with Jet-hot coating, custom twin 3" stainless exhaust with Magnaflow mufflers.

This

Working on it. Its still cold up here in ND. We have realized that this truck is completely worthless at this power level with the current suspension and tires. In the works: lowering the truck probably keeping it 4WD and getting some different wheels with some kind of a street tire...probably a 305+ wide drag radial

What's the boost at in that video? Why is it useless at 700hp? Are you not utilizing four wheel drive? I has no trouble with almost double that tourqe lol.

And an extra 3000lbs of weight... Nigger.

But I agree in 4wd, it shouldn't be that bad, my truck at 500hp is fun in 2wd, but not useless, in 4wd it is borderline boring.

Lol, I must admite I'm surprised at how low of boost I need to launch it at so it doesn't burn the tires off for a long while in 4wd. But it is winter, cold roads........

The boost in the dyno video is 21-22 psi. This truck only weighs 4,000 pounds. Your 6.0L truck weight close to 9k I'm guessing. The roads are cold(ND) and it has mud tires on it. Another thing we are seeing is that the driveshaft loop, which is about 6 inches from the front of the rear driveshaft, has marks on the passenger side of it from contacting the driveshaft at times. In the video you can see how much the rear of the truck pulls over to the right. Obviously, we need to do something about this. Any input would be great. We are thinking traction bars to start with from the rear axle to the frame, but I'm guessing that some kind of a lateral brace would be a good idea too.

Highroller, what are your mods again? I'm definately not doubting your stuff, but on our dyno a stock turbo 6.0L with a H&S minimaxx makes about 350whp and 700-750wtq.

Highroller ditched the 6.Slow and bought a 6.4, with the hd300 tune he runs, it is all of 550-575whp. It is also a crew short 4x4, so it is probably closing in on 9000lbs. Those Fords are heavy trucks.

My old duramax has a stout efi live tune, and a few supporting mods, so 450-500whp, but it is an ex/sb, I scaled it with a ~half tank of fuel at 6600lbs.

We run caltracs on the race truck (1500whp 6800lbs) (1/4mile and sled pulling), and they do great, are easy to adjust and have held up to a lot of  abuse. The only downside to them would be if you are planning to take it off road they would limit the articulation. You may also want to look at running a rear anti roll bar.

your leaving allot on the table with a minimax on a 6.0l. Get a sct and some gearhead tunes. You should be more like 420hp but maybe your dyno reads low, nobody runs h&s on 6.0l's

Panhard bar?

With that lift it would take some serious bracketry though. Would have to figure in the suspension travel, etc.

Your CTS? That sits 5 inches from the ground and has decent weight distribution, not to mention decent street tires. This thing has 33" mud tires, is high, everything is old and weak. This truck was designed for 100 whp, not 600.

We have been working on lowering it while keeping it 4WD. Thats all done as well as installing a set of Pro-Comp traction bars and some 20" wheels with some decent street rubber that is 305 wide. pics to come, it is getting flat blacked right now. :noel:
