china/ebay clutches?!?!?
« on: July 16, 2014, 12:11:03 PM »

yeah. well I'm a Jew...

I'm throwing together a single can. probably getting boost.

xtd stage2 clutches 215fttq that say not to be used on forced induction lol.
eClutchmaster that claims 219ft tq/60% more over stock power... and its $84 shipped  :Jew:
xtr stage 3. claims 273ft tq.... $89....this one has enclosed springs on the pucked disc.

is there any real experience here with these?

I've used the stage 3 and stage 5 xtd clutch for all my build, w/ new lightened flywheels and never had issue.  :noel:

I tried to use the xtd 6 puck stage 3 and it was a waste of time and money. With a rhb5 on the d series it would slip when I banged 3rd. I would have to ease into 3rd on power. And it chattered so hard. And that was with a new flywheel. Be the jew that you are and pick up another used act on craigslist.

I'm a dealer for Yonaka and they sell China clutches, I've used a couple and not had any issues. Held 20+ psi just fine on the street, if I had slicks on it may have been a different story.

Had the xtd 6puck unsprung with flywheel combo on my turbo zc.
Wasn't super powerful, but the clutch never once bitched about me raping it.

I've heard people have good luck with the xtd on d motors, but nothing else.

The only one of those thats worth even trying is the XTD "SUPER CRAZY INSANE PLATE" its really heavy and will actually hold 400whp.  Ask for the absolute heaviest one they have.  And if they have a solid hub 4 puck disc (or even a 6 puck i guess) it would be worth trying.

If the disc has springs dont even bother.

SO when the pressure plate fails it will be either the diaphragm will snap or one of the straps will break at the rivet.  But it will last for a while and hold power and be cheap.

Your thrust bearings will get wiped out quick too.

He's just gonna finish it and sell it. So if it's unsprung it won't have a very good resale to the average dumbass.

I had a xtd stage 3 sprung 6 puck.  It was okay on a cable trans. Took some getting used too. I was scared it was gunna fly apart I had it for ahilw under daily driving. Never got to put power to it tho. I'd say go for it. Wouldn't hurt unless it came unglued
That's why I wanna do a strong full disc so they don't explode

What's the benefit of unsprung and have springs?
I've heard this term before but never seen one without springs or anyone tell me why they were better... as someone mentioned a little bit ago
