thoughts on running non-intercooled + water/meth?
« on: October 13, 2015, 03:56:06 PM »

so I have been looking at tons of pics and builds. I have seen all combos. but hard to tell on some setups as they may not be built for the same things I would be building them for.

so here is whats going on.
100% street driven Nova. probably not daily, but hopefully a lot.
LSX motor all stock + cam/springs
turbo
less than 600whp
too lazy to mount/plumb intercooler and don't want cut up car.

is running a water injection good enough in a situation like this? what kind of kit should I be looking for? multi nozzle? progressive?

I think Spiker and Mitch can chime in on this.  They love that meth!

well, see. there is a problem. they run big intercoolers + meth. im talking a 8-15psi motor. no intercooler. just straight piped to TB. not sure thats apples to apples. also found TONS of posts of varying meth systems + E85/98 motors, but those all seem to be drag cars in the 600+ range.

im pretty sure 55superbeetle (fucker refuses to post his projects here ) ran his LQ4 with no intercooler or meth for a long while. without much issue. sure he had high ass IAT's... also dont feel like going threw his big ass long build again to find the little info. maybe if he posted it here...  ::)

im trying to keep my setup simple. if i dont need to hack and stuff 10lbs of shit into a 5lbs bag then i would prefer not to. are guys running setups like im trying to and keeping IATs in the double digits? or they just turning motors into scrap?....

i wouldnt go much if any over 12psi.. It gets to hard to cool. I'd get a devils own progressive kit. they are the best. and run two #12 nozzles.. best way would be to run 8 nozzles, one in each port. you can get away with a bit more that way.

Unless you pay big dollar for a good blow thru carb I wouldn't even attempt it. You would hate the drivability.

True, I would never run one period but they do keep the intake air temps in check.

So does a plastic fuel injected intake.

Screw the water meth, just run alcohol fuel.  :)

he is referring to the atomization of the fuel threw the carb, it will pull heat from the charge air better than a meth/water kit... plastic intake will probably keep a couple degrees out? blow threw carb 100+...
