Of the four V8 RX7s I've been in or seen locally, only one was a V8 guy and his shit was tubbed with 33" tall slicks.  The others were IMPORT guys, one a rotorhead.

Just talked to a guy who traded a melted down Mk3 Supra for an 88 RX7 T2, come to find out Phil never drives his RX7 anymore because he's sick of putting a motor a week in it and Howie bought Scott's (tubbed 33" tire RX7) GTO.  Steve sold off all his rotory shit over a year ago, "they are unreliable pieces of shit that break all the time, complete waste of my time and money for the last decade," which leaves exactly zero rotorheads in ashEVILle.

i have yet to blow up a rotary engine. period. how many miles where on the t2? if it was around 150 or so, then hes a fool. if he had a srock turbo and put a straight pipe on it, then that ='s blown engines. the t2's are notorious for badly designed wastegates and they love to boost spike. the 3rd gens are quite alright, just shitty twin turbo setups and shitty coil packs. other than that, they are very reliable cars. just idiot people working on them.

As per usual, you lack reading comprehension.  The T2 runs, with other minor issues, it was the Mk3 Supra that melted down.  Further, the FDs were quite not alright, their wiring harness fires and general engine/overcomplicated vacuum system/poor OEM quality control issues are legendary.  Log onto any FD site, Peter, they discuss how the FD chassis is equivalent to any supercar of the era but the horribly poor OEM design and QC issues make them a bugbear to own.

Phil's car, last I saw it, made 470 whp.  It's pushing a little over 600 now.  Howie's owned some high 10 second and low 11 second convertable T2s.  Steve was billing $100/hour for rotory tuning, is both brighter and more experienced than you with a wrench, and he's done with them.  We are not discussing someone who's owned one T2 and has a mild 300 whp tune with water/alky injection on a nothing special setup, we are talking about men my age and older who've build all out drag cars for the last 15 years.
