Honda Pilot tire size
« on: June 08, 2009, 09:23:00 AM »

So its not really a "real truck" its more like an over grown accord.  So its not very manly, but if it were a girl it would certainly be a girl who probably would kick your ass.

my tires are bald and i want something that will do well in sand since thats about as rugged as Princess Pilot will get.  That said, I was thinking of Plus sizing literaly one size up from 235/70r16 to 245/70r16 since thats not too odd a size but i know have two questions.

A) will one tire size up really make my speedo not accurite and will it strain my tranny.

B) any good online spots for cheap tires? best so far has been Discount tires who want 700 for some BFG all terrains shipped to my door.

I might say fuck BFG for that price and go with the general grabbers since they are like 50 less a tire.  I ont the extra 10K the tire is rated for makes up that difference in price.

This man speaks the truth. I bet your speedo would be affected by a 1/2 MPH or less

the width of a tire doesn't affect shit. height of the sidewall will. you're fine.

Most tires now also have the sidewall height on listed, it'll read 98S or 113S or something like that.  that will give you a better idea of the change your making

Thats the number thats going to change your speedo reading and strain the trans if it varries much from stock

ok, last tire I bought, I did the math and it came out equal to the rating on the side, sorry.

Yeah i was fairly certain I wouldnt have shit to worry about with the tire size since i cant put anything big on it anyway.  The tranny just makes me nervous.

Id stick 31's under it in a heartbeat but i would bet lifting this thing would be a chore. Its like overgrown car suspension.  its not made for all that lol.

A 31" tire will only realy measure about 29" once its installed.
Just measure what you have already and compare

235/85 16's they might be a little over kill as they are typically for 1ton's (it is the size I dd on my dodge) but there is good selection and will give you that plus size you are looking for.
