B16 oil issues
« on: June 23, 2009, 10:17:43 AM »

I have driven  700 miles thus far in my newly acquired 2000 SiR.  Going up the highway last night ...no Vtec. Pull into the station to fill it up, checked the oil and the stick was dry.

No oil out the pipe under hard acceleration (a little black smoke)
No leaks
compression and leak down are good

WTF?

Time for a B20?

I searched the net , some people report no oil useage, some people say it's normal, the motor has 100,000 miles on it. I was gonna pull the trigger and turbo it ...but now I dunno

Buy a ricy car get ricy results.

My D16y8 is the same way, it uses just over a Liter of oil between changes, has no leaks, and doesn't smoke at all. Not sure what it does with the oil, but it is consistent on its usage of it. I just carry a couple liters of oil extra in the trunk. My motor does have 330,000Km's on it though.

hahah, Im not too pissed, I didn'tpay much for the car, it has no winters on it and the suspension is done to the tits...  I was actually gonna throw on one of evansperformance turbo kits for shits and giggles.

Do an LS or a B20 swap...   Maybe I should just throw a set of rings in it .

If the compression and leak down are good, I doubt that a set of rings are going to do much for you. You could always build JD's favorite LS Vtec...  :P

my b16 magicaly removes 1 litre between oil changes (one track day @ 8 hours)
everyones b16 does who drives them hard, @ 8000+rpm oil does burn a bit.
