What do you guys use to keep your winter collection of raw steel parts from rusting during season changes out in the garage. Unless your fortunate to have a controlled climate shop.

Im using wd40 and 5w20 motor oil.
5w20 sprays really well out of a old windex bottle or the like.
Just dont want my gear sets rusting, rocker pads, extra valve train, or rotating parts to go bad on me.

Whats your tricks or the trade?

I've coated bores with a thin coat of marine grease, did'nt see any rust issues on any of my stuff, I just got a couple of tubes of the grease and used a small paint brush to spread it on.

I had them. But my wife keeps taking them away and using for her items that she cant get rid of.. Maybe going to have to get some camo ones so she cant see them

I dunno about heating it up widebody, anytime ive heated grease it just smokes and smells delicious, but usually thats when i hit it with a torch lol.

We have buckets we dump diesel fuel and oil in. And dump parts in them. Keeps them from rusting. Or they make a wax-like grease shit you can apply. It's what comes on steel when you buy it. Forget what it's called.

especially if you are in E. WA, rains MAYBE 15-20 days a year, and it probably wouldnt even be considered rain by Seattle standards

that part of the state is going for CHEAP! and there is a ton of work in that area. worked in Moses Lake for 8 months last year, made some good money

Jeremy, I just tossed the uncleaned parts into the plastic containers.

Never a issue.

I have had issues with gears that were washed with carb cleaner and then sat in a heat garage that got surface rust.
