Went mild wheeling this weekend, lots of pics, 56k, nope
« on: November 15, 2009, 06:10:31 PM »

Some friends and I went and did some mild, all day wheeling saturday. Some power lines, some creeks, a little mud, and some rocks. We are still flooded from all the rain from the hurricane that blew up here last week. Biggest creek was close to 5 ft deep

Friend in her new JK coming across out of a creek

3 of us on a rock bank in the middle of the creek.

coming up the power lines

after the climb, had to come back down another side trail

the JK

the white TJ

Stopped to play in some ruts

Then the batteries died. Friend got some video, I'll post it when I get it.

The Jeeps and the (functional) mods

The black TJ sport:
4.0, 4" rusty's, lock-rites front and rear, sway bars disconnected,  Banks header and exhaust, homemade snorkel, 33" all terrains at 8psi (dont hate, haven't stuck them yet!) see more of it in the fab section

The white TJ:
stock 4cyl, flowmaster 40,  4" rusty's, 33" mud terrains at 10psi, disconnected sway bars, open front and rear. (burnt his clutch up about 6 hours into the trip, and had to leave)

Silver Rubicon:
4.0, 4" rusty's, locked front and rear, locker speed sensor bypassed, stinger front bumper, 33" mud terrains on 10psi

Black rubicon (big one)
4.0, 6" long arm, 2" spacers, high steer, locked front and rear, sway bars disconnected, 36" tsl's on 10 psi, CAI, other shit

Black JK
stock 3.8, 2" coil spacers, bling bling wheels (on it when she bought it), 35" mud terrains on 10psi, open front and rear, aftermarket steel bumpers front and rear (was very surprised by a stock JK)

I really like the whole 4x4 scene, and Jeeps hold a steady place in my mind for reliability, but I find im an adrenaline junky and slowly crawling up a mountain doesnt do it for me.  Mud-racing on the other hand...

Regardless, all those vehicles are beautiful.

maintenance trails under power lines are fun.  We took my friend's 2003 Pilot through some of those.  The thing isn't great offroad, but its still fun.  Gonna take my girl's highlander in the mud to see how quickly it gets stuck one of these weekends.

yea, but the best place to go is now off limits. some guy bought the land that the entrance is on, and we are too lazy to chainsaw a new entrance 1/4 mile long.

North Alabama, Gadsden to be specific

Well yeah, but still fun.  I've taken my fucking accord into the gravel, and it was a blast.  Dont always need good trails.  Covering shit with mud is fun.  Bombing across a field with a suburbia SUV and having a perfectly smooth ride and looking at your friends ranger bouncing all over the place is also fun.

As fun as that looks, isnt it more expensive to go slow through mud than fast on a drag strip?

Damn man, I'm at the bar/restaurant literally everyday. And the legal sundays....doesn't apply to Etowah county. We're a dry sunday county...which is gay, but I always have beer in the fridge man. Next time you get this way, definitely let me know, and we'll grab a cold one or twelve
