91 tsi BW-S362 e85
« on: March 21, 2009, 03:21:10 PM »

Figured I'd put up my setup for this summer.  So here she is. Have an appointment on 4-2 to get it tuned at DB here in the twin cities.  Their dyno does read quite low as it is a Dyno Dynamics.  Hoping to break the 500awhp mark.  Plans are to run around 30-35psi.

Here's a quick list of some of the mods

1991 Talon Tsi AWD
Mahle/Eagle built 2.0
2G head w/ crower springs (ported to match 1G intake mani)
HKS 272's
Dual intank walbro 255's
1600cc injectors
S362 turbo (.70 T3 hotside)
3" exhaust
4" intake
Evo 8 MAS
DSMLink
E85
TRE tranny
JMF SMIM
JMF catch can / CCV setup
Rota Boost's, 17x8
KYB AGX's
Maaco Paint Job  ;D

Car still has power everything, a/c, and hopefully soon get the front leather seats reupholstered.  The whole idea is to have a quick car, that's still very street friendly and just fun to drive wirhout rattling my brains out.

There's plenty of anti-dsm folks on here, so Feel free to bring the hate, won't be the first or last time I hear it :-*   I'm really hoping to make the power goal I'm aiming for, and go get booted at the track for lack of a cage.

Here's some pics I took today.  Bought a new camera, so had to test it out :)  Steve, you need to get your shit running and out on the road!

Got the FlexFuel badge idea from a friend.  Thought it was funny since I run E85 in it  :D

The paint job was done by Maaco about 3 years ago I think

It's not really that people who know what they're talking about hate DSM's. It's when people throw on a slightly bigger turbo with an AFC and think they're gods that make people annoyed at and hate DSM people. Most of us just like cars that go fast.

That seems like a tiny turbine housing for an s362? Setup looks good though man.

I suppose that's all a matter of perspective.  There's quite a few running SC61's in a .63 T3 housing.  This turbo flows just slightly more, and I have a slighter larger AR (.70 T3).  Again, the goal is to get a decent amount of power, while maintaining halfway decent streetability.  Any larger AR turbine housing would result in slower spool.  And as it sits right now, I don't think I'd want any more lag then I already have. And it's not small enough that it's completely hindering top end.  IMO, it's the perfect compromise between power / streetability.

Colin, definitely hope to run into you sometime this summer.

Right now the only vid I have, was on initial start-up with the new setup last year.  THen the car died (valve failure) and I'm just getting it back up and running since then.

Here's that vid:

i'm always envious of the AWD model if you can get it running right.. very VERY little work to run 11's on street tires.

btw, emperor, the crank walk issue is only on the 2nd gen motor, hence they refer to the motors by the amount of bolts on the flywheel.. that's how you tell the shitty version from the solid
