CRX hydro/cable motor mount differences?
« on: November 30, 2009, 02:21:52 AM »

Well Jorsher has a set of EF B series mounts that are for a cable tranny. He is doing the hydro tranny with conversion and said he has to get a full set of mounts that are made for the hydro tranny and motor with hydro tranny. My question is: Is there a difference in the motor mounts them selves or just the tranny mount?  I tried looking it up, but all I find is people talking about the hydro conversion itself and not the differences in the mounts.

That's what I was thinking as well. Would like to find out for sure as a new tranny mount would be a hella-va-lot cheaper than a whole new mount set.

Good to know, should make Jorsher happy since will only have to fork over cash for one mount.

What swap mount set uses all 4 locations for a EF/ED chassis?

in ef's its all different except the engine side, eg's and ek's would only use a different tranny mount, but the rear mount is cool

Yeah, just gonna have to replace the set.

I thought something was up when the mount wouldn't go where I thought it should go.  The rear mount looked like it may work but I never fully mocked it up since the engine isn't completely put together.  Trans side mount definitely wouldn't work.

Oh well.

And no this set does not use all 4 mounts either.  Is there anything that does have full frontal action?

AS a general rule, no.  The front trans mount on ED/EF chassis cars is usually an additional option when you are using aftermarket mounts/  I really see no need for all 4 when you have aftermarket urethane mounts.  The drivetrain to chassis connection is incredibly solid with just the 3 mounts.

Yeah, wasn't going to go out of my way to have it, but figured it wouldn't hurt.

If I see one with it when I buy the new mounts, I'll grab it, otherwise, fuck it.

Agreed. With my traction bar I only run inserts in the other 3 mounts and I don't have issues
