For those of you who would like to dig at the track, keeping a flat footprint is key. If your front is lifting, your geometry is changing. Here's how to stop it.
Get two center rear seat belts, some scissors and a lighter. Shorten them like in the picture:
(https://realhomemadeturbo.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fc1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com%2Fimages02%2F54%2Fl_210eb8e3f5a54678867eb53e59074080.jpg&hash=07f5310b8da0c76d1cfaa7ab2731ac4e9edb2cdc)
Get a hacksaw/whizzwheel and cut off the part in the red circle:
(https://realhomemadeturbo.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fc1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com%2Fimages02%2F34%2Fl_306ca4c151e94cd68f2818a1f77d6074.jpg&hash=f4fc1748855725913ba5c8eab2a9b82f557573d9)
Take the non-buckel end you just cut and slip it over the rear stud on your shockhat:
(https://realhomemadeturbo.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fc1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com%2Fimages02%2F57%2Fl_53557e803cd646cea60de01882bb5044.jpg&hash=f5e224e3f1638dc620e6b15bd3832e45762d2522)
Now bolt the buckel to the back of the lower fork:

If you're a dumb riceboy and somehow mount these so they fray, tear, wrap around your axel, and send you into the wall, I take no responsibility. But if you bolt these on and get three tenths for $5, like I did, you're welcome...
-
fuckin pimp right there
-
Thats fucking hot
-
any questions from tech?
No, but if they would have asked. I would have said, "they're dot legal."
-
Fuck I'm going to the junkyard this weekend i'll add these to the list.

oh thats good...
kinda reminds me from my stupid shit back in the day when i used to use metal pipes to replace my rear springs. I would actually install the spring back so i can still pass tech,
-
Fuck you Fowee!!!!!
-
I could see that working great. But if you had one of those 1 in a million things where it locked up an axle and shot you into a wall at 110+ it may hurt a little.......
-
At full extension set your camber to 0 degrees for maximum hook.
-
Sticky ?

you can buy brand new lap belts for $10 in most parts stores and they come with new mounting hardware and choise of color. ;D
Some of auto-x guys use chains on their camaros and mustangs. :somb:
-
At full extension set your camber to 0 degrees for maximum hook.
meaning, measure how much the front end lifts up at launch and then make sure camber is set to exactly 0 at that point?

Or put the straps on, jack the car up so it is hanging on the straps, set to 0

almost as pimp as JDs rear system he designed :noel:
-
Going this weekend to get some, I need to align the slut anyways..

what? :?:
explain please! ;D

so do you want to adjust these so there is a little lift allowed or do you want them tight when the car is resting on it's own weight?
Play with them. My best pass had a bit of slack. After that I added tension so it wouldn't lift at all. I think the whole package is what you're after... these are just a variable. If you have a solid rear suspension I'd say you'd want some slack. If you have some squat in the back you could probably run them with tension at ride height.

need 50-60 psi in the rear tires.

Think about the bushing deflection under power, hanging is for bad nignogs.

need 50-60 psi in the rear tires.
i picked up an extra spare to run with mine for skinnies in the rear this year
excellent write up. love the dot leagal
-
not very safe since spares are only rated for 55 mph.
155/80/13's @ 60 psi, just remember to air them down before driving home unless you want some scary drift action.
-
my track is 1/8th mile and i will change them when i get there
-
Seatbelts are also very useful for engine swaps. Great idea
-
nice work
-
that is fkin awesome.
I wish a dragstrip was closer to my house...sigh
going to get some anyways even though using it during aformentioned engine swaps will most likely where they see action
-
We have three in the area.
I was see Fowee run at Thronhill, a redneck track :)
-
exactly what i was looking for. excellent
-
nice, we used to use a similar limiter strap when drag racing snowmobiles
-
Rhmt is collecting up great library of information. Nice work :noel:
