because you cant get that package anywhere else for the price. most of us here payed thousands for a 16-17 second 90s shitbox that cant handle for shit, and cost alot more to get the same power, without the torque or top end mph or RWD.
i suppose a old supra turbo is about the same, but those are ugly as fuck, imo

Gas mileage aside, how much would you have to pay for perfect working order, freshly painted 60's mustang or Camaro?

4800 starting to like like a better deal yet?  Also porsche = baller status, even if its old.

well that didn't take long... 
Tried to get awesome last night.  got too awesome, spun it around into a curb.   Slid sideways into the curb facing the wrong direction on the road at about 5-15 mph...  Managed to drive it most of the way home before the differential stopped working, roomates helped push it up into the driveway.  go drink some beers, come back to examine the damage only to find it's rolled back into the street and the cops rolled up.  talk my way out of that one, get it back in the driveway, plus some bricks.  Find out not only is the diff blown, the brake rotor is SHATTERED, and it bent the trailing arm mounting point up.

pics later, maybe, anyone got a 944 trans on the cheap?

Not good. Might as well replace the whole torsen tube with the arms. It will never ride correctly.

The tube itself is interchangable from all 944, but the torsen bars and trailing arms, and all associated parts are not. M030 option and ABS are the big differences.

Poke around rennlist or pelican parts forums, always somebody parting one.

Like I said, ill give you a hell of a deal on mine.

Turns out the drivers rear axle is definitely busted.  This is good news though because it means the differential might be ok.  Also don't think I mentioned it before, but the body made it out almost entirely unscathed, only thing got cracked was the lip on the front fascia, but I can probably fiberglass that back up.

also, had to make a rhmt dolly to push the car around the driveway.  2x4s plus a shitty furniture dolly worked pretty well.

most likley the 944s up to 85.5 and the 86 turbo will fit as far as suspension shit goes

There's about ten different versions of everything in the rear susp. Make sure you get the right parts.

BTW every day I've driven it so far I have atleast one person try and race me lol.  It gets noticed.

Tub the rear, ford 9", three-link, turbo LS2. Win. Speaking of old Camaros, I found a complete drop-in rear coil-over/torque arm suspension. Watts link instead of panhard bar, bolts in place of the old leaf springs. One day I'll be buying this for mine:
