A sks would not be my goto shtf gun.

Not all of us are lucky enough to have legal AK47's.
ak74, ammo is cheap, low recoil and people have reported 2 MOA with surplus.

Ak style rifles are built with extremely loose tolerances, this is what makes them reliable but sacrifices accuracy.  The 5.45x39 ak74 is more accurate because the round is smaller and has less recoil to fuck shit up.  Ammo is still affordable for it aswell, 200 per 1k vs 350 per 1k of 762x39.  I think i might start getting rid of a few 762x39 ak's and pick up a couple 545 aks just because the ammo is cheaper.

after shooting a bushmaster ar15 a about a week ago, i want to get one. i can rapid fire 20 rounds into a stump at 50 yards and never miss one, the recoil is so light and the gun is built so well for accuracy.

the other ar15s i shot that were cheaper models i wasn't that impressed with, but the bush master is nice

Check out the Olympic Arms variants as well... Theyre local and ive heard well about them. The DPMS I'd stay away from though...  again this is only hearsay.

I wouldnt mind an AR, but The only way id want one is a SBR... So much for accuracy... LOL...

Ill take a loose whore i can suff reliably when the zomb13s come anyways.

At this point im more interested in stockpiling ammo than another gun.

I like my Rock River 20" NM.  I shoot 1 ragged hole with the A2 sights at 100 yards with decent ammo.  Even wolf runs 3-4" groups.

no one can argue the accuracy of an AR, the direct impingement system works very well for accuracy since there are less moving parts, but that system falls short when it comes to reliability.  One thing i really like about the ak is that even if its really fucked up, missing a gas tube, missing a gas piston, missing a bolt carrier, the reciever is squished in a few spots, you can STILL fire it as a single shot weapon.

thats stupid to do though, might aswell get a sig 556.  Gas systems are arguable in AR's, some claim excess bolt wear from how they work.  I dont know though, fuck 223, too much money for that ammo.
