Welfare Traction Bars---- thoughts
« on: May 26, 2009, 03:09:02 PM »

I want to build up some welfare Traction bars for the GRM $09 Car (1992 CX hatch)

This was my idea. heim joints are $25 Ea round these parts.  Old tie rods ends are Free and I had a weldZor

Front cross member would be 2x3 Steel Square tube (I have some) , or I will steal the 2" Sign post at the end of my block.. haven't decided.

Ties into the EG's Tow Hooks, I will just  heat and bend the tows into an L then weld the, to the cross member.

EF's are plentiful at my yard, so I would use their front trac bars and Nog rig to fit.

I also heard someone say S-10's have big ass front bars.

anyone see a prob with using Tie Rod ends?

Kind of a different take. This is how Mazda fags do it.

Damn baller. Wish I could get that kind of a hookup. I should be alright at the 1320 with only 7 pounds of boost on a 50 trim.

How's that tie rod end gonna handle the sideways load?  All it has to do on a rack is hold the wheels steady, not take a pounding from the front-rear movement of the suspension while launching.

Not saying it wont work, but it might be a bit of a safety issue if one of those joints breaks, which they can do...

I like how the mazda people keep their pivot points in a straight line:

I also like that it's a tensile load, unlike like ours.  I actually put chromoly sleeves over my stock bars cause I bent one launching at some point last year.
