Check the pressure and close this thread. A fucken guage is 10 bucks...

If the solenoid gets voltage, you can hear/feel it click then its all working. The only component left that assists the crossover is oil pressure. Maybe you should stop driving the car till you get a gauge on it. i can assume you checked the level of the oil already.

i havent been driving it... its been sitting. just installed my new gauge today. 90 psi on startup, 45 psi when its warm idling.

minty minty. its gotta be something dumb. ill figure it out after work tomorrow.

ima take the solinoid off and douche it tomorrow and also douche the oil passages in the head. i have a different vtec solinoid i can try also.

the oil pan and pickup are in good shape. no dents on the pan and the pickup was also in good shape. im going to drop the pan and check the pickup screen and shit now because im curious. motor pulls good vac and has good oil pressure.

Gee, I dunno. Despite my familiar posturing I've never experienced VTEC not working even though the control system does and oil pressure's good.

Mine did this on saturday after rebuilding / reassembling a B16. Just to see what was up I opened up the Vtec solnoid on my Z6 and compared the 2

The plunger on the B16 unit pumped oil fine, but when I compared the 2 I found that on the B16 the little round slug sat flush with the case.

On the D series (working) Unit , it sat slightly above.

Cleaned it with brake clean..worked the plunger and it sat above the case like the other one... bolted it up and it works great.

Screen was clean when I pulled it apart , I even cleaned it with brake clean and air the first time around, but I imagine some particles were in there from when the OG motor blew a bearing.
