alright, when the teg fucked up, i kinda just left it parked bc i had another car to get around. fast forward to now, the teg is running. i was digging around in the arm rest dealie and found a check from a company that i worked for back in the summer of 07.

so this money is legally mine right? i never cashed it, they never sent me anything telling me that i had not cashed it, which other companys do.

so wtf can i do?

most checks have a must be cashed within a certain amount of time. I had a similar thing happen and the check was good for I think 120 days it was well past that. It was only like 60 bucks but still I felt pretty dumb at the moment.

ive had checks reissued, bc i lost them and found them way passed 90 days...but this shit it is just about 3 years lol

i was pissed, teg had a "new" engine, this was a replacement jdm engine, and the damn thing only lasted for about 1k, before it started making funky noises. i really dont know how the fuck i forgot about the check.

Call the company up and tell them. They legally have to give you another check or you could technically sue them for unpaid wages if they refuse.

so i ended up emailing corporate. i figured i get a better response from them. so i hit up HR, couple days later, they answered. lady told me to mail the check to her, i was kinda iffy on it, so i made copies, and then sent shit off. anywho, they sent me another check, and shits in the bank.

go to the bank thats on the check and try to cash it there.. dont bother trying at your bank...

if that doesnt work you will have to go to your old employer and get the check reissued...

make copies of it before you give it to them..

The money is yours but the check may not be valid still.  There is actually a website where you punch in your name/social security and it tells you about any money owed to you.  This includes paychecks.

You can try to deposit the check or just contact the company and they should send you a replacement check.  Either way, legally, they have to pay you.

I once found like 5 money orders in my room from selling stuff back in the day on Yahoo auctions before eGay. Then once I found $3xx in cash in my room I had forgot all about. I also found a $6xx pay check that was about a week from going out of date. Then again that's back when I had a steady job and no whore to spend it all. I remember them telling me to cash my paychecks because I would still have 3-4 outstanding.

the last hotel job i had i fucking hated my boss so i saved up 4 paychecks and cashed them all at once

I'd try to cash it, if the teller says okay the money's yours. 

If they won't, the money is still yours but you have to have the check recut from your ex-employer.

I remember when I worked for Pacificare, who is owned by United Healthcare, I had a guy who his insurance payment (the one we were paying out) bounced. If that ever happened to me I would be changing health insurance companies quick.
