Accord clutch cable issues
« on: April 27, 2010, 10:19:24 PM »

im finalizing my old 88 accord, and I installed the clutch cable, pushed the clutch pedal in, and it felt soft, so i tightened the cable up, and tried it again, and it still felt soft (i have a dual diaphram 6 puck clutch, very heavy feel) so i tightened the cable up as far as it will go, and same thing, the clutch pedal feels soft, but the pedal still returns.  I think, if i forgot the bolt for the throwout bearing arm in the trans, then the pedal would go to the floor and not return, and you would feel no resistance at all correct?  Maybe im looking at a cable or pedal issue?  The transmission, clutch and flywheel and throwout bearing and cable are all the same as the last setup and it worked fine, but that was like 2 years ago with the different engine...

how old is the cable? Those things stretch really bad with heavy clutches. Also always buy oem cables unless you like breaking pedal assemblies

1/2" pipe with a notch cut for supurb adjustment.  my Maltesky Domestic Market 4 puck and Mars pressure plate actually took more tightning than I had on the cable

I was checking around everything appears to function the way it should... i guess i just remember the pedal being stiffer than it is
