Rotating "barrel" ITB's, pneumatic valve springs...that is fucking awesome. Thanks for posting the link.

I'm guessing they feed the valve system increasing pressure to reduce power losses at lower RPM's.

I'd like to see more of the valve spring deal. Pretty cool find though. I have always wanted to see F1 ports and combustion chambers

pretty cool seeing how close off the shelf tech is to f1.

Also pretty crazy seeing how plain an f1 head is. I guess I'm just too used to seeing high end military parts every day.

Look at the cam follower setup wondering if those are pneumatic or hydraulic dampened?

Major hollow camshafts, dimple by the o-ring groove on the block what is that all about?  :noel:

to pull the o-ring?

no valve springs. no vtec. gears at both ends of the cams??

super interesting to look at and puzzle over.

No valve springs, because of harmonics above 10k revs.

All F1 engines use pneumatic valve actuation for at least 10yrs. or so.

Those pics have convinced me to grind away the valve guides in the ports. I used to argue with myself a lot over that.

love the cam profile. I presume the dampers are to avoid slamming the valve back on its seat with such a radical falling ramp

No Vtec? FAIL! No stroke? Gutless like a b16...w/o vtec!

 :P

It's too bad that engine is soooo far away from any street engine, it'd be cool to copy that cam profile or porting from the pics. It seems like such a waste for them to destroy an engine like that after a couple races or whatever.

I wish I could keep my shop that clean. Instead I end up cluttering up every space I can find because I'm too overwhelmed with actual work that goes on in the shop. Then my wife feels bad and cleans it for me :)

Awesome F1 engine pics! Anybody know any more about the new 2014 F1 rules and the new hybrid turbo V6's they're using?
