RHMT RECIPE: Bistec Empanizado (breaded steaks)
« on: July 06, 2009, 07:12:03 PM »

there is no way i can get this stuff to photograph well.. it looks burned but it isn't..
can be had with rice.. or the way i like it.. with a side of fries..

this is different then my other recipes in that its a 2 day process (marinate first and then cook next day)
you can get away with cooking without marinating but i wouldn't... the actual prep work is less than 10 minutes.. the actual cook time is less than 5... that's what makes this recipe so bad ***... and really you can use any cut of meat cheap or expensive as long as its THIN SLICED and no fat...

this recipe calls for beef steaks thinly cut.. little to not fat..
1 small onion
1 small egg
half a lemon or lime squeezed..
salt
pepper
flour
and breading..
if you want to make rice see my Chinese recipe..

steal some meat.

pull off some good slices...  DO NOT WASH THE MEAT... get a butcher that you trust and youll be all set.. but if you shop at krogers or a super store i suggest washing it and patting it dry with some kitchen towels.....

make sure you pull off all the fat.... this stuff cooks FAST like 2 minutes max and its done on high heat.. aka barely enough time for a piece of fat to melt.. if you bite into a piece of fat it will ruin your day..

grab a small pot and place a piece of meat in it

proceed to beat your meat :D i love beating my meat...

i have a lot of experience beating my meat.. if you ever need help beating your meat let me know :D
obviously if you have an expensive cut of meat you wont need to beat the meat that much but if you have a cheaper cut of meat like i did id go out of your way to make sure you beat the meat well.. better to have an overbeat meat then an underbeat meat...

salt... pepper (i know it says garlic but its actually pepper lol) small lemon or lime.. and an egg..

squeeze half lemon into blender.. peel the onion.. break the egg... add salt and pepper blend it in blender..

for the marinating you need a big bowl..

stick the meat that you beat in the bowl

add salt n pepper to your meat that you beat

dump the stuff out of the blender... DO NOT Add water to the blender and dump the rest in.. you DO NOT Want water on the meat..

mix

cover

set in fridge longer the better

next day..

make some fries.. was going to make my breaded potato wedges but i didnt feel like it.. maybe next time... just used some store bought fries...

breading and flour..

lay down some breading.. flour.. salt and pepper.. idk how much but just try to get the mix close to what you see.. your better off making LESS than what you need and making more later.. then if you make too much.. because you cant/don't want to reuse breading especially after using it to bread meat :D

mix.. and then shake the plate..

TAIK OUHT WOHKK PAHN

vegetable oil.. again sorry don't know how much.. i just know... try to eye it..

this part goes by FAST infact i kinda overcooked the stuff just because i stopped to take pictures :D

BREAD IT

FRY IT

FLIP IT

BREAD IT

FRY IT/FLIP IT/BREAD IT

same... again.. this stuff cooks FAST

done..

im not a professional photographer so i cant prop a plate worth jack...

like cotton candy :)

cut it up with the dull edge of a butter knife :) no i didnt use the fork and knife to eat.. i just used them to show how easilly it cuts.. even with the dull edge of the butter knife.. now that i think about it i prolly should have used a spoon to prove my point better

good job....

Next time if you get a chance go to a  :mexi: mexican market or (carniceria) its the store with the picture of a cow, and a shit load of piñatas in the front. Get a pound of beef steak called (Milanesa) Julio knows what im talking about. Its thin and its perfect, its what we :mexi: use. Some places even have it breaded and ready to go.

And for a golden brown crust, use crushed saltine crackers.

i havent had this in a while..... shit goes down good with a Dos XX's
