How to Depin engine harness connectors
« on: November 17, 2009, 02:48:14 AM »

Im taking my harness apart to clean up all the unnecessary wiring and preparing it for braided loom and rerouting.  to do this right, you have to take all the connectors off to slide the braided loom on and be able to use heat shrink.  So here is how to depin the big subharness connectors (the rest of the connectors with white locks on the inside are the same way)

On the inside of the connectors, there is a white cover.  The goal is to remove the cover so you can get to the lever which releases the pin from its lock.  So to do this, get a small flat head (or anything that will fit in the hole - i used a small precision flat head screw driver

Pop the white cover off like so

Now take your tiny precision screwdriver and put it into the female end of the pin.  Lift up and push the pin out.  You have to lift the pin out of the lock on the bottom.

congrats, you have depinned the connector.  The male pin connectors are the exact same way except you have to use pliers to pull up the white lock.

I've got my harness laid out all nice now and its ready to be mocked up on the engine

The only way not to know this shit is if you were blind in one eye from looking down plugless cylinder bores filled with coolant and could not judge distance with your remaining peeker.

Closest you've ever gotten to a tech post in all the years you've been posting.  Go away?

May be simple but to a 18 year old kid things like this make a difference. Nothing wrong with simple tech info.

+1, Tell them to fuck off Blake. Also a little advice about the loom, Use more heat shrink on the end of it than you think you will need. Also when going from a bigger loom and tapering down to a smaller loom, make sure you leave at least 1.5 inches of the smaller loom inside the bigger loom, then heat shrink it. Bending of the loom tends to pull the smaller loom out if you do not leave enough slack.

Just throwing around ideas here.  But what are the possible issues I could face trying to use an 03 manual IS300 engine harness with Dezod Motorsports AEM PnP on a non-vvti Aristo GTE?

Can you make your own fucking thread?

You might want to, since I know the answer.
