I'd just get a first generation insight, and remove all the hybrid shit.  Even with Aircon, CVT, and all that hybrid stuff, it still weighs 1900lbs.  The manual ones are even lighter.  One of those with even the D17 pile of fail swapped in would be a riot.  You could probably sell the hybrid parts to some hippies and break even on the conversion.

Fucking wierd to say it, but I'm prepared to embrace VW as the new paradigm to aspire to with how far Honda has fallen.

A local guy WANTS one as a roadrace car.  He doesn't mind the front end being a little tweaked + it being aluminum, it'd get the front partially tube framed as part of the entire cage structure.  I really think he's onto something, it's a cool ass idea.

i can see the insight as a drag car, but the wheelbase seems a little odd for road racing.

this is all speculation though as i have no idea what the actual measurements are of the insight.

I was reading on miata.net and they had a discussion about the crz. Thought these were interesting points made by others

I proposed this elsewhere and I'll say it here too: no man (or woman) should buy, and no car maker should make, a sports/sporty car that is slower than that same car maker's minivan. An Odyssey will do 0-60 in 8.3s. Absurd.

I have flirted with the idea of getting a s2000 but with having 2 friends who have owned them they really are only a car to drive around in. No trunk space literally if you plan a road trip and if your taller than 6 feet its going to be tough to enjoy driving it.

Yeah I'm right at 6' and when I sat in one with the seat all the way back my knees were still hitting the dash. Hell there's no trunk space worth a shit they could have at least made the cabin another 6" longer.

On miatas (different car, but similar in a lot of ways), it's not uncommon for people to modify the seats or buy new seats. I'm 6' and the miata isn't that comfy, and that's after modifying the stock seat. Sucks for long trips, but fun as hell to just go for a ride in.

THis.  The Honda Pilot is one of the fastest Stock Hondas Ive ever driven, Ive outrun a MazdaSpeed 3 in it and honestly just felt bad for the little guy.  For christs sake its not fast by any means but back in what 04 when the Camry, accord and maxima had close to 280-300 hp motors in them i was thinking damn if thats what they are tossing in the soccer mom rides, wtf do they plan to put in their sports cars.

Please report back to your Mazda friends that the Honda community does not approve of the CRZ.

Thanks.

A stock 2000 odyssey will go 130mph and do sweet burnouts.  Its hilarious to light the tires up on a street, then drive around a corner and pass a cop who HAD to have heard someone peel out, and they don't even look at the van.

Honda should have just stuck to the CRX design with a few updated design changes. Have the HF model with they hybrid, DX with low end K series, then the Si with the hopped up K series with 6 speed tranny.

Anyone thing theres the chance theyd do a make over to it?  Like the 1st gen to 2nd gen crx went through?

I still think it fails far too hard for me to want one.  It weighs as much as my failboat accord, has a smaller engine, and is slower.  Probably handles worse as well.  I'll keep my eyes peeled for a 1g insight to defile with boost.

In a year or two if they're smart they'll release one in SI trim without the hybrid shit, which would free up a bit of weight and possibly lower the price, and with a k-series.  If not, maybe they'll at least do a gas-only version with an R18.  Being that they have 3 settings in the current one eco, sport, and some mid-grade shit, I think they were trying to release all 3 versions in one and failed.

I doubt it'll sell enough to put out a second iteration.
