Ok so taxes are coming in soon and ill have some cash to work on something.  Ive been wanting to work with something besides honda.  While browsing CL i came upon a 1985 nissan 200sx.  Im going cheap because thats just me: Im a cheap ass bitch. 

Ive liked the older nissan car.  Not much on 240's, datsuns are cool, but the 80's v6 Z is gay.  So theres this that fits my pessimistic values.

The car is red, has faded paint, but the body is straight.  Ill be inspecting it tomorrow or Saturday.  Assuming im still hard for it after going over it, whats the general opinion of working on one of these?  Say like rebuilding the head, or just gasket replacement, complete swap to a diff motor, etc.

Im such a honda fan boy and have never gone older than an 88.  The exception being an 87 mercedes and it was was diesel, I digress.  This is a different step for me.

Wtf do you nigs think?  Besides from "your gay, fuck nissan, super drift, etc."

Arent those the rwd vg30 powered hatchbacks?  That doesnt suck.  Get one and build sweet rhmt setup for it.

no, the 200sx had the ca18de.  The one im eying is the sohc turbo model.  Turbo was properly removed but ill returbo it (t25 probably)

Haha yea.  The dude selling it is pretty cool, real nice, and knows his stuff.  So +1 for dealing with someone who isnt a fucking moron.

Its got issues related to head gasket/upper seals.  Still drivable but smokey and rough in the low rpm.  We shall see as I am scheduled to see it tomorrow.  Hell if all it ends up needing is gaskets and head work its a steal.  If it needs a swap(whether is be head or whole motor) im hoping theres plenty of swap options that can be done on the cheap.  the s12 is a sexy car imo.

Buddy of mine had one in highschool and loved it .  wacky twin plug motor and the fuckin   thing talked when you left the door open.

I had an 86 with an imported SR20DET in it back in the day. Had a fucking ball in that car.

The pop up lights can be a pain in the ass. Put a LSD in it if you do reboost it.

I had one an miss the shit out of it. Cool little cars, mine was an xe all digital which you should stay away from if possible as the cluster always takes a shit.  You can swap the 300zx turbo rear end if it's an indpendent rear. I think only the 84 had a solid rear. Most of the 240sx suspension bolts up, an a kade24 swap is almost drop in as well. Club-12.org is one of the best forums for the   S12.

Sweet.  Thats what I like to hear.  Since 240's are common as hell thats nice.  The 85' has an independant rear so i can swap that nicely.  Word by ear from some nissan guys I know is that s13's(and s14's i think) can be converted onto the s12.  Like the suspension, 5 lug conversion, etc.

Ill try to remember to take pics tomorrow.  Hopefully its good enough for my needs and expectation.

Yup s13 and s14 bolt up. My friend had 300zx brakes along with the 5 lug swap.

Ah.  Well specify next time.

I dunno the deal behind it being removed.  I checked the car out yesterday but couldnt take pics.  It was a raining shit storm.  Good thing I brought a buddy along and an umbrella.  I inspected the car all over and being from michigan its 99.9% rust free.  Sweet  O0.  Got minor cosmetic issues to fix here and there but nothing too bad.

The motor wouldnt run.  It cranked but no go.  Oh well Im still getting it.  Ill diagnose why its being a pussy bitch later.

If the motor is fixable ill re-turbo it with a t25.  I can only imagine its weak power output without a tubo  :?:
