laptop doesnt boot up right sometimes

ok so my laptop will sometimes boot up just fine and other times ill just get a black screen, at which point ill hold down the power button and then restart the damn thing, and then itll either start fine, or ill have to keep restarting the bitch because the same thing happens. once it boots up fine, everything is fine like there was never a problem. ideas?

Yah I'd try some canned air on that shit, but if it boots and runs fine I don't think it'd be the problem.

See if there are any BIOS updates.

Friend sold me a PC for $150:
Q6600 quad core
4gb ram
hd-dvd drive
dvd burner
tv tuner
wireless keyboard/mouse/media player remote
2 x 360gb hdd
nvidia 8800gts (i think?)

Problem was similar, half the time wouldn't boot.  Figured I'd get it and try to fix and if I didn't get it fixed, wouldn't care since my PCs stay running 24x7 anyway.  Did a BIOS update and it has been fine since.
