so why do they sell stainless steel flanges? lol

My guess would be for very high end n/a headers. They usually don't get as hot as a turbo manifold, and the material can be welded at lower temps (amps). this would make the stainless flanges work i spose.

This better not be a CC-Fab mess, because i know i had friends buy those things and had to personally fix 2. When i could have just sold them manifolds in the first place. But the price was to good to pass up.... :?:

You gotta love tax return time. :) So many new adventures born from those checks.

I wouldn't suggest stainless flanges unless you are very comfortable tig welding. That's a big expensive oops if you screw it up and warp it.

What welder are you going with?

miller econotig

its an OK welder... hopefully this works out and ill be able to get a better one..

i looked for the lowest priced decent welder that i can resell easilly if this welding gig fails..

econotig was easiest sub 1500 dollar welder to resell

All you need now is a Chinese welding machine and you can compete with OBX.

how do you regrind the tungsten?

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=92158

I don't have room ATM for a big mother, plus it's easy enough to change the belt to avoid any contamination when it's needed elsewhere. I can't see the pad under the work area lasting too long and it's loud as fuck, but works great for just resharping shit.

I grind my tungsten with one of these. The local welding supply had one for a while so I beat them up on the price.

Fuck that bandsaw. Its sitting outside of my shop collecting rust not a fan of it at all.

you should send it to me for the cost of shipping. i have one and use the hell out of it with no issues. a good blade and proper setup is all thats needed.

also, in for the results. i think its hilarious to take orders for manifolds and never welded anything ever. i made my first manifold for someone else, but i didnt charge for my time and i had been welding for years before that first one.

You really need to do some SEARCHING. I don't know about anyone else, but i'm not spoon feading you info.  All this stuff people learned by searching and practise. And frankly you lax additude about manifold building like your going to master tig welding in 2 days is annoying.

And this is where experience takes place.  I wouldn't drop 1g on steel if you haven't even done one.  Start small and work your way up.  My first manifold was made out of fucking plumbing pipe.  You figure it out and find what works.

A log shouldn't cost you more the 100 for flanges and stainless.  Are you fucking retarded deaf or illiterate?  This is what everyone is warning you about.  Build one, see how it goes and figure out what it is you really need.
