+1  i have seen somewhere a while ago at some racetrack (i think it was texas motorsports park, but i am not 100%) that a 250whp miata with r-compounds and a good driver was putting down the same lap times as a GT3 porsche.

Not that it is that simple in either case.

that only works if they weight is even distributed doesnt it? or if they rear has sufficient weight to get traction.

There is a doctor local to me who has 1g miata with a jackson racing supercharger, and a 1g miata with a 215 buick/rover aluminum block v8.
The last time I looked at his v-8 miata he was still trying to figure out the GM OBD1 F.I. management.

He takes these cars to SCCA SOLO 2 events here and down in the Denver area.

I personally thing he spent too much for all of this but he can afford it.

Great Driver

I would rock an LSx swapped miata if I was was some little leprechaun. Seriously I can't even sit in one without my knees pinned to the steering wheel.

OBD1 GM is a mixed bag when using it on an engine it didn't come on, or with certain sensors/injectors.  It can be super easy, or it can be a nonlinear shitfight.  Code59 on this 3.4 has been an education, mainly getting the idle right at all temps, and the other flavors can be downright wierd in certain applications.

How big are you?  I'm 5'11 and leg room wasn't an issue.  I'm skinny so that's not really an issue.

I don't think I'd be happy doing much over 2.5 hours in the car, but that kind of driving happens to infrequently that I don't even see it as an issue.

Some people like that tight "glove fitting" feel. I on the other hand like to be able to move around freely. Not to mention like you said that would get old really quick on a long trip. My Del Sol had a lot more leg room than the Miata and I started getting a little aggravated driving it 9 hours back from Ohio.

Alright, I've given up on Miatas.  I just got finished reading Miata.net and those guys are out of their fucking mind.  Evidently this car: http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/cto/1611208744.html is worth $6-7k.  I'm floored how someone would pay that much for a stupid little toy car.  Forget the car being associated with gays, I don't think I'd want a Miata because I'd be associated with Miata owners.

I don't care about the forum.  I don't want to talk to them about anything Miata related.  They are just making normal people think their Miata is worth $1-4k more than KBB, Edmunds, and NADA say.  I'm sorry, but $1k off on a $5k car is a reasonable difference.  It's not like we are talking about $1000 on a $20,000 car.

Fuck this.  When I wake up tomorrow afternoon I'lll lock this thread up.  I hope everyone destroys the thread by then.

Yeah, for some reason when ANY car has low milage for its year people think its worth gold, i laugh at the people selling pewter SS camaro's that have 10-30k on them for $25,000.  So fucking stupid, you cna pickup one with a decent body, pay a shop to rebuild the engine and redo the suspension and any urethane parts and a paintjob and it'll still be cheaper.

The last place i worked (yeah i actually had a job once) the owner, this dumbass meathead Romanian cock smuggler, had a orange WS6 that he rarely drove because he thought holding onto it and not driving it would increase its value since its a 'rare' color.  retarded ass romainian.

I bought a different 1999 Miata.  Basically the same as the black one except white with a tan interior.  Overall condition is good/excellent.  Has a hard top already which is worth $$.  67500 miles.  Owned by an older lady and man.  Overall, I think I could have gotten it for a bit cheaper, but I got it for $5800.  I'm confident I could turn around and sell the car tomorrow for $6500-7000 so overall I think I did alright.

I pick it up in a little over a week because they are going on vacation and I want to give it a full inspection before I actually hand him the rest of the cash.  The EGR needs to be cleaned and a simple vac line reroute to solve a CEL.  The only thing that worried me was the steering wheel was a bit cocked when driving.  Like I said, if I'm going to give the car a full inspection in a little over a week and check everything out more closely before I give him the rest of the money.  I gave him $200 to hold the car.

so if you sell this your going to mark it up several thousand? just like the people who pisses you off? hypocrite. just fucking around with you sense we all do it to a point. just funny you complain about it so much.
but on another note. i drove a 95 miata, back in 2005, from san diego CA to past seatle WA. none stop besides food and peeing. trying to sleep in one is pretty difficult. it isnt that bad of a ride you cant do long distance but defintly wouldnt be your first choice.  picked up mine for 3400 if i remember right. it was a salvage title. but was nice and ran like a champ. low miles but had to replace the clutch within a month or two of owning it. only car i ever wrecked. wrecked it that winter, funny thing was it was a nice day but they just put some de-icer on the road plus going to fast equals me and the car on its side in a ditch and my friend outside the car. got to watch him fly over me and onto the ground was a cool experience becuase we both walked away. litterally we ended up walking two miles to his house afterwards.

I bought the car to drive.  I didn't feel bad for paying $5800 when I probably could have bought it for $5600 because I knew I bought the car for much less than market value.  The car has less horsepower than I typically want.  I will most likely turbo it.  If I decide not to, I will sell it.  If I sell it, I will be able to atleast recover my costs as I bought it cheaper than market value.  Get it?

94-95's are much tigher than the 99's.  I drove a 94 a couple of weeks ago and I was not comfortable.  My legs were hitting the steering column.  The 99 I fit in with ease.
