« on: February 19, 2010, 09:16:09 PM »

alright, so my friend brought some computer over. shit boots to a black screen reading, disk read error occurred, press crtl alt del...blah blah

figured shit drive, so i stuck it in a diff comp, worked fine so i formatted the thing. so i slap it back in and nada. same thing. so i drop in a xp disk and it doesnt read it or something, bc i keep getting the same message. i think the computer came with like windows ME, lol. so maybe its a BIOS issue? i just wanna get the thing fixed so i can get it out of here.

Sounds like a problem with your binaries.  Too many zeroes, not enough ones.

Oh and start taking random things out. I had to fix my aunts computer not long ago because it would get to the boot section and just keep restarting. Turned out it was a bad ethernet card. I think Jorsher had the same problem a good while ago also.

Yah, I thought I had a bad mobo because it wouldn't even post.  Bought a new one, was working.  Then I plugged in the cheap china special memory card reader (the whore kind that gets rebranded by 100 different companies), and the new mobo did same shit.

No clue, reset BIOS settings.  If it stopped working without him physically fucking with anything, if bios is reset and it still does that start trying different shit...like IDE cable, harddrive, etc
