Was thinking about it until reading this thread, now I'm not sure I would buy anything from him.

SpeedFactory installed their LSD.  It was covered under warranty due to it being the first MFactory LSD to ever fail.  It is the only MFactory LSD that has ever failed (splined gear cracked, never determined if it was the diff itself or the axle that caused it).

Consider your source of information regarding MFactory. Kiwi can NOT get the MFactory LSD's, nor could he have EVER got them.  They are not produced in a factory then sold to whomever wants them like the OBX and many other products are.  The only reason the D LSD was even made is because I put the money up for it.  Same with the soon to be released 35mm LSD, the DOHC ZC LSD, and some other D specific gearing I'm working on with MFactory.  You're not qualified not necessarily due to your abilities, but due to the fact you're not an MFactory Official Installer, nor even a dealer.  If you disagree with me, PM or email me versus spread mis-information.

It's unsettling to see a moderator of a forum I sponsor speak negatively about me elsewhere.  There is no hidden agenda behind my business.  I sell MFactory and dislike OBX due to its horrible quality.  People will continue to buy OBX due to the price, that is fine with me, I'd just like them to be educated about their purchase.  If you think my information is incorrect and/or would like me to stop helping with tech questions and providing service and discounts on said forum, please PM or email me.

If you receive a defective product from MFactory, it is covered under the limited manufacturers warranty as long as you haven't already used it.  If a product fails or has a problem after it is installed, it is covered under the warranty if it was installed by Whoopee Doo Racing, or MFactory themselves.  It is very unlikely you will ever have a problem with an MFactory product (if it is installed correctly and suits the application).  SpeedFactory's LSD is the only one that has had a problem post install.  Some early B18C LSD's had some small problems, and all of them were covered under warranty (either repaired or replaced entirely).

hmm, wierd i never even heard of those LSD's till a few minutes ago lol. friend of mine was askign what he should buy, not sure what to tell him since a warranty really isnt worth shit if you have to ship your tranny to A certified installer.

He doesn't have to ship the trans to myself or MFactory.  That will only help him should the LSD have a problem once in the car.  If you or he has any doubts, take a look at how many 900+whp cars are using it without any problem, its good enough for Lisa Kubo if that says anything.

Nice, propaganda posts about the OBX combined with him being the only one that can install it is a good attempt at forcing you out of the sohc trans business.

I can get the same LSD's, matter of fact until Chris had the group buy (without MFactory's help) KIWI almost bought the first lot that Chris ended up buying. Reason KIWI didn't was due to the cheapness of the OBX's that at the time. OBX's were $160 each, the first MFactorys were $275 each, plus shipping.

Time to start selling BoneSpec LSDs for $500

IMHO, the product is so good, the MFactory warranty should be extended to all installers, pending inspection of the failed unit.  that is, if any ever fail again.

that would say a lot about a companies faith in their product.

Well I want to buy an Mfactory diff, but want to install it myself. Considering a claimable extended warranty is valued upwards of 20% of a new car's value, and mine would be void, could I get a 20% refund after I install it??

If that's the only one that's ever failed, you shouldn't have a problem standing behind the warranty. And if you are that well trained at installing them, you'd also be able to figure out if it killed from no fluid, grit, etc, and offer a case-by-case deal for user-installed parts.

The forum sells advertising rights, but volunteers are not automaticly considered part of that business. They can simply say he doesn't necessarily share teh same opinions of said forum blah blah blah.

Full disclosure laws don't make the truth illegal, they make it manditory, and are applicable since a warranty is basicly a contract. Actually since it could create a safety issue, a person is morally obligated to disclose the facts and POSSIBLE ramifications, and business is actually required by law to do so. Only unprovable facts are illegal (slander/libel). Telling someone the prices involved in retaining a warranty and what's their own recommendation is not slander or libel.


In otherwords, don't get butt-hurt if people don't like your policies. The customer is always right, even half-wit chipped-shoulder nig nogs from RHMT. In a capitalist society, you adapt to the market and make the customer happy OR lose their business.
