EG Steering rack? Lower ratio's? Nigger,rig pics inside

SO since I had to nigger rig my steering rack back in the day. I am fixing it. I want to know what my best options are for a lower ratio rack. Best bang for my buck.

I was thinking VX rack. Or maybe get some kinda JDM lower ratio deal. Ideas?


it used to look like this, I pulled everything out, am putting in new urethane kit. Getting some things powdercoated pretty colours. De-greased EVERYTHING

I was getting nostalgic a week or two ago and wishing I hadn't sold my NES.  I had shitton of games and accessories, even a wireless controller with turbo switches ;)

Now I play them on my phone, PSP, or PC + Xbox 360 control.

After seeing your gaming set-up I was thinking about pulling out my Atari 2600 and playing a few games pac-man or 3d Battlezone. ;D


As far as lower rack ratio I remember seeeing  Quaife offering a quick ratio kit for non-PS racks for $240+.  ;D

my friend got a mint condition nes when his grandpa died last year. was in the original box with the styrofoam and packed in there like it was new.

Idk about eg's, but i have rode in a ef with the quafe rack and it is night and day difference. Very quick steering, and i would love to have one, but i have a p/s rack in my car.

You want it quicker or slower (harder or easier) to turn? If you get a jdm one it would be right hand drive, I have a rhd itr one if you really want it  :P

An integra rack is a direct swap. There is no difference between a Type R rack and a std teg.  While you are getting the rack , get the cross-member cross bar. EG cross members have the threaded provision for it , it's just not there.

I run a teg rack with a hydro electric pump from an MR2.  Steers 235/45/13 hoosiers without issue

Stock civic rack is over 4.0 turns L to L (I think)  the teg rack is 2.9

A quicker ratio gear makes it harder to turn the wheel? Because the gear is itself a larger ratio than stock so it turns the gear faster? Wouldnt that make it easier to turn because instead of having to turn the wheel twice you turn it once?

Its not like its creating more friction of the tire on the ground.....



Tell me more of this teg rack. You need the crossmember cross bar?, sterring rack? swip swap bolt in. Teach me

Yeah I fucked up the power steering reservoir, when we were trying to get something else out, or in. So we decided at that point to pull the power steering all together, and looping it just kept the shit out of the rack.

This was the thought process in my mind at the time.

The steering rack from a 3rd Generation Integra (94-2001) can be swapped into a 5th Generation Civic (92-95).

regular Civic PS rack 17.5,
Civic manual rack is 19:1
GSR/ITR is 15:1
