We aren't prepared to move unless they give us what the house would be worth if it was not flood prone. The way our wall works, there is very little chance we will ever get water damage and if they let us know we are off the list, we will build a permanant concrete wall. So, how is this house not worth  what I'm saying. It's worth thatmuch, according to the city, which is the only people who are in the market for it... You guys dont get it...

Thats like saying I won't sell my house for half price just because I live next to a toxic waste dump. In my state, you can't own water, just water frontage. So if they'd value your property at the average low acerage, you'd have a house with no usable land. No usable land = no property value.

IMO the only reason the gov should even buy it near the price you want for it, not deserve, is because they were dumb enough to zone that area for housing. If it was because of a diverted river or dam, the intrests involved in teh dam would have bought you out before it was even an issue.

Acceptance is the 5th stage of greif, so you're ready to move on. Considering the landscape can add at minimum 10% to the property value - and yours is fucked each year - do the math. Now you just have to accept how the other factors realisticly devalue a property.

If I lived close by, I'd cut down a slew of trees upstream and create a good old debris field. I'd give you some warning just so you can post the vids on youtube random-strike's dragcityvids failsite.

We do Reuse most of the wood every year. We have made different adjustments to the wall every year, making it biger and better. That is why we dont set up the same thing every year. The only thing we replaced this year was the studs. We went from 5' to 8' studs. Everything else, including the plywood is reused. The only thing that wasnt reused was the plastic and the sandbags...

Its probably down to about 90hp with all the blowby. I got the fenders because the car got hit by a trailer in a parking lot and it dented under where the fenders are. Car will evertually have a street-ported 12a or carbed 13b... or a turbo 1.6 havent decided yet. either way, it will have some power eventually....

4 ft up the wall. but we scrambled to put the top half of the wall on last year because the city was gonna shut out electricity and plumbing off if we didn't build it higher than our 5 foot last year. It is mainly to  please the city and army core of engineers so they dont fuck with us anymore like they did last year

we had it measured, and they almost started pouring last year for that. We were gonna bolt siding to it to make it look legit, but then they moved us up towards the top of the cities buyout list. So we dont wanna spend 30g on a wall, if we are going to get bought out next year...

Sheeting done yesterday. Putting the plastic on today... river is about 100 ft away from the house. according to NOAA, it should touch the wall by saturday the 20th.
