My experiences were one person has a habit and introduced it to others and in the end using a bit. A few would actually get a full blown habit. The only people that keep your nose clean are the Mexican line workers. The actually need the money they make. They weren't afraid to knock a few back after a long day though.

More like the mexicans were slinging it , but not to the front of the house or the upper kitchen management who has a "friend" drop it off reaaaaaal late at night, while doing some of it semi-discreetly. You never put years in an environment like that, and if you aren't into that shit it takes years of trying to rail late teenage hostesses and waitresses before you realize what's going on in the rest of the restaurant. I applaud you for your heterosexual cluelessness, sir.
Careful Marc, when you step up from chain restaurants to fine dining making 30+/hour and do it for a few years, people will make waitress jokes.
Should have kept that $30 an hr job, you'd probably clear 80k after taxes with tips if you were working 40hrs a week. Psh, your kid doesn't need a father figure
It's part time work, check the operational hours some time vs how the places are staffed. It is also very difficult to put up with people and their bullshit, if I worked 40 hours a week I'd kill myself within a month. I know people who have, and do, and they make nice money but they also climb into a bottle sometimes before the shift has ended.
In all honesty, I'd like to roll the clock back 2-3 years and work 20-25 hours a week in a restaurant (or other) gig while scheduling dyno tunes on my 3-4 days a week "off". I made 43K the second year I went to school full time by doing that, could have broken 50 in that economy if I'd pursued it, and if you want a week off on sudden notice it's easy to hand off a couple shifts. Frankly, it's time to get a desk job like most losers with my amount of education. Pffffft.
