I pay $150 a month for both mine and my wife's health insurance. Granted, mine sucks with a $5000 deductable, if she didnt have insurance we'd be paying $600 a month for her epilepsy medicine as apposed to the $15 we pay now. I consider myself very lucky for this, after talking to people and families who have to sell everything they own to pay their medical bills, or go into indentured servitute to make ends meet.
Its a big money racket. Anyone with a fifth grade reading level can figure that out. But nobody really stands up to do anything. Doctors/hospitals get screwed by insurance companies too, because they only pay AFTER whatever surgery/help the patient needs is complete, and almost always try to lowball hospitals, who end up just taking what they can get.
Until everyone loses their cable/internet most people will just sit quietly and take it in the ass from the gov't. Thats the blunt end of it.
