Yo, what up. New to this forum. Had a quick question. I'm making header for a FWD 2.5 V6 engine. i measured the exhaust ports the they are 1.4" tall and 2.0" wide. So.. do I choose 2" piping all around or what? Just asking since i only see circular tubing and nothing for oval

okay. so i measured aftermarket ebay header gaskets and those were they measurements i got. i just measure the ports off the cylinder heads. the ports are 1.05" tall and 1.7" wide. Anyone know what size piping i need now to make them oval? 1.5"

1.5" sounds about right

you crush a 1.5" pipe and you can easily get 1.05" tall and 1.7" wide

dont forget a pipe with 1.5" inside diameter has an outside diameter of 1.9 inches..

so ittl work just fine

That's schedule 40 pipe, sure.  He wants headers, so he'll be looking for tube which is usually thinner stuff and sized a little differently (more precisely).

Whether straight or bend, tightness of bend, and if the wind is blowing from a south westerly direction on the third tuesday of the month affects the ID of pipe.

OD is still retarded.  Schedule 1.5" is 1.9" OD.

Why don't you go buy some 1.5" material and some 1.75" material.  Stick it in a vice and see which one works best?

If you guy your flanges from weirtech, they might be nice enough to open up the CAD file and tell you the total perimeter of the oval.  You can then figure out which piece of material has a similar circumference.

Either will work, but I suggest following Jay's advice.  He is a professional at all things logical.

1.5" sch10 pipe is actually 1.625 ID.
