Well our new plane just got to its test and evaluation squadron, going to be getting it in a couple years, im going to go see it this weekend and get on it for a flight.

i meant like someone who talks about being in iraq and in the warzone and killing towelheads and fucking towelheads and damn towel heads when they hadn't even set foot in iraq and were usually stationed in japan on hawaii or korea or some other shit and never even been to afganistan or iraq

Ahh, i see. Most of my over seas time has been in Iraq. Unlike most of my navy brethren, when i say im in Iraq, im not on a boat offshore, i mean i live and sleep in Iraq. Compared to the army etc i haven't spent that much time there, only 13 months, but that is long enough.

Yea when we switch the the P-8 no more low and slow at 150ft above the ocean. We won't be under 1k over the ocean anymore as those turbo fans don't like sea spray very much, and are very un efficient at lower altitudes. But we can go up to 45k or so, which will be nice for transit, as we are limited to 30k (with a crazy pilot and not much fuel left) in the P3 with the Turbo Prop's

In-fact , one of my old pilots wanted to go higher than the P3 would let him when we were near flying vertical at 31k, after we were flying on our way to Sicily, someone on the radio asked to be cleared to flight level 6 5 0 which is 65,000FT, ATC said yea the entire continent is cleared at that altitude, if you can get up there, have fun. Then next thing we heard was , "Roger, DragonLady 63 now descending to flight level 6 5 0 " Within six months my pilot had transfered to the air force as a major and now fly's on the dragonlady birds. When i was in iraq last time while flying we heard him talking over the ATC freq. there and he recognized our voices and had us switch to common freq. and we BSed with him for about a hour and a half as he fly over the top of us at 70,000 + ft.

Like the P-3, it has a full bomb bay as well as multiple wing pylons for weapons.

Its a ISR aircraft so not only does it cary weapons, but inside is 5 operators and its packed full of mission equipment and sensors etc, so there is a ton of testing to do with all of the new state of the art systems inside, as well as tactic's testing, flight pattern testing, weapons load out testing, weapons deployment testing etc etc etc, its a long process with a plane thats made to do so much.

If they built it like they built the P3, its reinforced so in the event of a water ditch, it will float. There have been P3 crews that have had to ditch in the ocean, walked out onto the wing and lit up a cig and hung out until the rescue helo's came.
