Fuel rail change or what?

I have I think 3 different B-series fuel rails.  The one I'm using is OBD0 because the line from the FPR/fuel return was screwy on the others.

I tried using the spacers that sit under the fuel rail, however with the spacers the fuel rail barely cleared the o-rings but wouldn't push down to the donut looking gasket on the outside top of the injector.  So, I just tightened the fuel rail without the spacers.  It reaches the outer gaskets now but there's a gap between the IM and injectors.  It won't tighten any more which may be due to the length of the bolts...

After a couple rippers today when I parked it I could see fuel on cyl #1's IM runner near the injector.

I'm considering just getting shorter bolts and tightening the fuel rail until it touches the IM, but worried it'd be a funky angle that would snap something.

Curious if some of the b-series manifolds/fuel rails don't use the spacer, or if I should try to find the fuel rail that matches the IM.  I assume spraying fuel outside of the injector is a bad thing which may result in lean burning.

If you have some lower timing belt cover bolts those work as fuel rail bolts and may help you not sure. If all else fails I have a box of stock obd1/obd2 oem b series fuel rails.


Back when manifolds first started coming out for b series aftermarket they told people you need to use b18b1/b18c1/obd1/obd2 b16a/type r for reasons your experincing.

from what i know all oem fuel raills use spacers

You could also bore out the mounting holes for the fuel rail also if you need a little more movement to get things snug/flush.

I'll try tightening it down this weekend with some other bolts.

I think the reason it won't tighten any more is because the line out the bottom of the FPR hits the runner, so I'll probably be hitting you up for a fuel rail soon.

He has the wrong fuel rail I posted up what is right for a bolt on affair. With some rigging he may get things to work fine.

Its just a type r clone from china. many comapnies have carried it blox,obx,skunk2 1st gen manifolds etc.


Its one of those things they cant screw up. OEM type r casting is by far superior though no recycled metals like the chinesse use thats why you get some of their manifolds with just horrible casting issues. Yours actually was pretty nice.

I had to drill out the mounting holes on the fuel rail chris sent me for the b16a2, he said it was from a ls but other then that, perfect.

Yeah the studs on b series manifold seems to vary and I really havent understood what is what. Most likely due to people swapping different ones on etc to match the rail they have laying around.

I have a couple other rails.  I think an OBD1 B16, OBD0 B16, and LS.
