You need to work for two years at an independent fix and repair shop.

Yup, we do.  Working on any and everything is a great way to develop basic diagnostic skills, and it trains you to keep your mind open as every car goes down in a manner that is both always the same, and always different.

I've had great times talking to tow truck drivers I know. It's by far the best ammo I've got for jokes with my dodge friends. People who deal with broken cars are definately the best people to ask about car brand/model reliability.
