I've got a laptop on CL and have had 3 people completely flake and rearranged my schedule for a whole day to meet a guy for him to buy it.
The ad clearly stated it had a line in the screen and 1gb of RAM.

When I get there to meet him he said "I really need one with more memory and I thought you were imagining the line in the screen, so I don't want it" WTF

I've been talking with a dude about buying his laptop. We agreed on a price yesterday, so I went to get $700 out of the ATM and now he's MIA. Won't return voicemails or emails since 6:30 yesterday.

I just don't understand people.

I always wondered why people have such simple ads on CL till I used it to sell a car. Motherfuckers can't read past the title in most cases.

Then some rican came up from Chicago. It's fucking easy as shit, hop on i-94 and follow all the signs halfway to Madison. Instead the retard shows up 2 hours late and tries to offer $200 less than the absolute min price I stated. I told him he & his friend can either A) enjoy the 300 mile round-trip he just did for nothing, B) give me his friend's GPS to make up the difference, or C) go find a fucking ATM with his iphone and GPS. Well after driving it for 5 mins he decided option C was worth it, as it was the tightest 4dr EF they'd probably driven for under $2k.

So I try not to depend on CL if I need the cash. I just list a good add, tell the multitude of email'ers to REREAD the ad, then make people work around my schedule.

One funny story is I bought a GSR block/head from the southside of milwaukee, fairly ran-down area. My inlaw is a cop, so I aranged for him to show up. It's a nice barganing chip when you have two police officers both over 6'4" with body armor, assault rifles in the trunk and new M&P40 sidearms. I made sure anytime I asked a question, the squad car was directly behind me in the seller's clear view.

I do a good bit of buying/selling shit on ebay. Maybe 1 item every 2 weeks or so.

What I can't fucking stand is meeting someone halfway (they are ALWAYS late) or delivering something to someone and then want to lowball you...fuck you fuckers.

laptop dude still hasnt replied.

It's a 1-week old 17" Dell Inspiron laptop with 4gb, i5 proc, 1gb of video ram with ATI chip. He probably paid around $900 for it.

I use to buy intake manifold every so often if I sold an oem to be ported. I usually got people being hella nice to me since I actually showed up and gave them close to what they wanted. half the time the guys would end up giving me a bunch of random stuff.

Last thing I bought on c-list was over a year ago. Integra couldnt pass smog the typical stuff. Car looked riced out. Gave him 400 bucks

Came home ripping the fucker apart

Find a set of work wheels in the back hatch aka old school baller
Car had ground controls and some tokico whites
greddy exhaust I didnt even notice
fresh act clutch/flywheel

I was happy.

Yea its tough to understand what is going on with these people sometimes. If they would just email/call me to tell me they sold it to someone else...I would understand. I hate trying to track people down when I want to buy something. Multiple times I have had cash in my hand and send serious emails with my phone number, etc and they end up falling off the face of the earth after a few emails back and forth. I'd say its not worth it but for every few flakers you might catch one good deal.

Only people on forums seem to come through. I met up with a dude from the s12 forums since he was in town for the 4th. He arrived on time, with all the shit we agreed upon, and that was it. He even cut me a deal since I was buying a bunch of his random shit.

I had someone call me Saturday about my Volvo, he said: "You had a lot to read in your ad, just tell me what's wrong with it." after took the time to spell everything out when I wrote the ad.

Another came down and test drove it, then asked me "I notice a lot of rumbling from the back", then I reminded them that I said the upper strut mounts were shot in the ad and I also said that on the phone. Not exactly sure what the hell I'm missing.

i view it as an opportunity for convenience. you could order what you need from a junkyard through car-parts online... or you could try to get lucky that the one you see on craigslist is good to go.
