after raping my first one I got a free current droid replacement a month ago, running BB.04 (froyo) with benchmark scores higher than any stock phone by leaps and bounds... and way faster than I need it. Wont upgrade at least another year, maybe two.

Tried the Android build for it yet?  From what I can tell it is run from within Windows, but maybe they have a bootloader for it now...  Haven't really looked into it.

i meant android os in general.
i have the eris with the white widow 4.4 rom, and can OC up to 768 on the current rom.
and you can run android on the wm phones, but its from a memory card. not a flash to the phone itself, and your wm os is still running in the background i believe

Yeah it appears Windows is closed before Android loads, from what I can tell by that thread.  Windows to load Haret to load Ubuntu/Android and WinMo is closed until you reboot.

really? you are probably right, i havent messed with that in a while. i swore on xda they said it still running, so you dont loose your network connection or other services. oh well.

I love how everyone bashes on the the iphone, i'd bet they've never even used one. They are actually built very well and seem to last a long long time. You cant say the same thing for a motorolla phone, its like comparing a civic to a cavalier, anyone who has ever ownded a motorolla phone knows they are crap and better get insurance, on iphones they dont offer insurance because you dont need it. If something does go wrong with it there is a huge supply of cheap parts on the market. I work everyday with a coupple guys that have droids and there is nothing their droid can do that the iphone cant.

Yeah At&T sucks a big fat dick but I can make calls over 3g or a wifi connection so there is rarely a time when I cant actually make or take a call. Data is lighning fast over At&T's network, when it works.

i agree that moto phones suck, built poor/cheap
i stick with the HTC's have had 3 of their phones dropped 2 in water(for more than 5sec) and they still work. they arent impervious to scratches/nicks tho. but their screens are damn tough

I've used one.  It's not a bad phone but people shouldn't need to pay money to have a battery changed or have to hack their phones to use apps that Apple thinks shouldn't be available.  The notification system is a big fucking joke.  Who wants popups?  Android notification tray beats the fuck out of it.  Multitasking?  LOL.

Android:
- Choice of hardware manufacturer
- Can install whatever app you want
- Choice of provider
- Can change battery/sim whenever you want, for free!!1
- Real multitasking
- A notification system that doesn't suck
- ANYTHING can be customized
- Syncs to the cloud, automatically
- Expandable memory

iPhone:
- Horrible (revolutionary?) antenna design
- Pay money for battery replacement
- Stuck with AT&T (unless you hack it up)
- Stuck with apps approved by Apple (unless you hack it up)
- Stuck with the amount of memory you buy
- Stuck with iTunes for syncing
- Shitty notifications
- Not very customizable (Apple knows best!)
- Smooth scrolling

Not trying to sound like a fanboy (although it's pretty obvious I'm sticking with Android...) but I would like to point out the reasons I would not get an iPhone.  It CAN'T do everything Android can do without serious effort, and even then everything isn't possible.

Every phone I've used for the past few years is HTC and I'd like to stick with them.  I did crack one screen working on the car while the phone was in my pocket, but that was on those oldschool resisitive touch screens, and should be a non-issue now that flush-mounted capacitive screens are used...

However, I'd like to believe newer Motorolas are much better build quality than the older ones.  They nearly went bankrupt and were failing miserably with no "success" since the POS RAZR.  The design and build quality of their newer stuff seems a lot better although I haven't used one extensively.  I think they're pulling a Ford and trying to make up for their past of fail in order to stay alive in an extremely competitive market.  Also, with fewer buttons and moving parts (flip-phones lol!), there's really not too much that can go to shit.

Any phone running 2.2 android os can run flash 10 and therefore watch flash movies streaming online. Iphone will NEVER do this, steve jobs said it himself.

AFAIK, Flash doesn't work on Hero/Dream with 2.2, but maybe you meant official roms.  Doesn't matter, running Flash on this processor doesn't interest me, unless there's hardware acceleration which is unlikely to happen on devices that are officially only running 1.6...

I forgot about the Flash aspect.  iFags say you don't need it, but I should be the one deciding, not some bald turtle-necked asshole that tells me I'm holding their phone wrong.

My Droid has been pretty reliable so far.  One of my first phones was a Motorola Startac, and that sunovabitch was fucking indestructible.  I think Motorola found china with the razr, then realized that they were selling a shitty product, beat their heads into a wall, and built the Droid.

In school I had to make a mock proposal on replacing a school's; real scenerio, but they were a friend of my teacher. Basicly I completely eliminated the partial Macs they and came up with a pc-based solution to *everything* the macs did. They were cheaper, more suitible for more students, and were cheaper even with all the adobe crap installed at full price. When someone asked how the art students were supposed to learn, I almost said GO FUCK YOUR BROTHER. I thought better and said the goal is to learn the task not the hardware.


Schools don't need MACs. Only people who think joining a minority makes them "unique", which consists of several million people, need them. Macs are like giant graphics on the side of a stock Sunfire. Incredibly gay.

I've had a couple Ipods.  I've also had an original Iphone, and an iphone 3g both on tmobile.

The original I found in the back of a trailer I was unloading under a pallet of antifreeze.  The truck came from NJ, wasn't able to get hold of the beaner who had it so I used it till the top half of the touchscreen stopped responding to input. Free Iphone when they were still new and cool 6-7 months after they came out lol.

Got the 3g off a guy on here or OHMT before the BS for ~$50. He found it with a broken screen, fixed it and used it for quite a while. 

Messed up a jailbreak by reading the wrong browser window and lost my unlock for tmobile lol.


Apple makes some nice products, its the closed bullshit, and the "image" that fucking sucks.

Seriously who watches movies on their phone, I'll watch a youtube video every one and awhile. Iphone Jailbreaking/unlocking is very easy and free, takes less than 5 mins allowing 3rd party apps, any gsm carrier and INTERNET TETHERING. Internet tethering in itself is the biggest reason I use iphone. I have dropped my iphone probably 100 times, stepped on it, rolled over it with a creeper like 10 times (fucker always falls out of my pocket when I lay down on a creeper), even dropped it in a horse watering tank and it lived.

I have never owned an HTC, but I am getting very upset with at&t, I have to call customer service EVERY SINGLE MONTH because of gay fucking charges they just put on my bill for no reason.
